Job Description
The Prior Authorization Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring department success by arranging timely and accurate referrals and obtaining pre-authorizations from insurance companies, enabling patients to access important treatments quickly. This position involves receiving and processing prior authorizations required for treatment, obtaining insurance pre-authorizations for patients, re-authorizing additional treatments, and ensuring insurance carrier documentation requirements are met. The specialist efficiently manages correspondence with the clinical team and insurance carriers, collaborates with the revenue cycle team to improve processes, and maintains appropriate reports to accommodate transitioning patient and payer needs.
Responsibilities
+ Receive and process prior authorizations required for treatment.
+ Obtain insurance pre-authorization for patients and re-authorization of additional treatment.
+ Ensure insurance carrier documentation requirements are met.
+ Manage correspondence with clinical team and insurance carriers efficiently.
+ Collaborate with the revenue cycle team to improve processes and prevent financial toxicity for patients.
+ Maintain appropriate reports for transitioning patient and payer needs.
Work Environment
The position operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm at a business office located downtown in Salem. The specialist will work alongside a team of other Prior Authorization Specialists. This role involves heads-down work with occasional clinic visits and no regular face-to-face patient interaction.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.15 - $24.01/hr.
