Equipment Engineer
Job Description
As an Equipment Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting operations by ensuring that the building, utilities, and manufacturing equipment are properly maintained to support GMP manufacturing and general facility operations. This position involves performing inspections, diagnosing problems, coordinating third-party maintenance, and completing relevant documentation. You will work closely with CMC personnel to keep the facility and equipment inspection-ready.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee the utility and building maintenance program, including preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
+ Lead or assist with facilities and engineering projects, including equipment installations and HVAC upgrades.
+ Conduct building and manufacturing equipment inspections to proactively identify maintenance and calibration needs.
+ Perform or oversee maintenance on facility utility systems and manufacturing/laboratory equipment, including some activities in a clean room environment.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable cGMP regulations, FDA, USP, and ISPE guidelines.
+ Manage the compressed gas program and oversee gas changes on process equipment.
+ Assist with building support services, including setting up conference rooms, meetings, and events.
+ Participate in GMP investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and change controls related to building, utility, and equipment repairs.
+ Develop and modify SOPs related to equipment maintenance.
+ Respond to after-hours building and utility alarms on a rotational basis.
+ Perform daily inspections of buildings and utility equipment to identify and document areas of concern.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant facility, utility, and equipment maintenance experience within a GMP manufacturing environment.
+ Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in overseeing HVAC maintenance programs.
+ Strong work ethic focused on precision and accuracy.
+ Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of collaboration in a team environment.
+ Solid analytical and critical thinking skills with experience in troubleshooting equipment and utility deficiencies.
+ Expertise in GMP requirements for facility, utility, and manufacturing equipment.
+ Availability to respond to after-hours equipment emergencies on a scheduled rotational basis.
+ Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., Blue Mountain).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical environment.
+ Familiarity with building management system controls interfaces and Siemens systems.
+ Ability to work hands-on and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
+ Strong attitude and ability to communicate directly and effectively.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
