    Custom Job Purpose:

    The position exists to facilitate the coordination of student referrals, access, and delivery of mental health services as a liaison between the school and district level.

    Essential Functions of this Job

    • Maintains collaborative relationships with administrators, teachers, and school-based mental health team members.

    • Coordinate the referral process for students demonstrating a need for mental health services beyond the school level.

    • Provide individual student case management oversight for those in need of Tier III services.

    • Provide all tiers of mental health and behavior supports, coaching, and training to schools in the region.

    • Participate in the implementation and monitoring of intervention plans for students determined in need through the threat & risk assessment process.

    • Provide direct service mental health counseling.

    • Assists in the implementation of the mental health portion of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act plan approved by the Florida Department of Education.

     

    File and retain all documantation related to all services provided to students including, but not limited to, any insurance or Medicaid claims.

     

    Non-Essential Functions of this Job

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Considerable knowledge of mental health support and services. Understanding of the need, and the ability to collaborate with school personnel, families, and community service providers granting access to students in need of mental health services. Ability to gather and analyze data related to threat & risk assessments in reference to early warning system indicators.

     

    Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited college or university in a mental health (or related) field with a bachelor#s degree is required; master#s degree is preferred.

     

    Must meet requirements as a certified mental health services provider, licensure preferred (ex. School Psychologists, Professional School Counselors, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Social Workers).

     

    Youth Mental Health First Aid and Prevent, Reaffirm, Evaluate, Provide and Respond, Examine (PREPaRE) certification must be obtained within one year of placement in the position.

     

    Experience in gathering and analyzing data is preferred. Participating in crisis intervention and collaborative teaming is required.

    Work Context:

    Requires some sitting and standing, walking, and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones, and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals, and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires work with students, internal and external contacts, and with the public.

    Physical Environment:

    Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoors, at times. Requires sitting, standing, moving about, and the ability to lift, carry, move, and/or position objects frequently weighing up to 20 pounds and infrequently weighing more than 20 pounds. Requires travel to schools and worksites within the district.
