Some of what you'll be doing:
As a Manager, Engineering Support Services, you will lead the management of the Engineering Department Support Services team, including all systems and process for finance and budget, fleet, facilities, asset management, contracting functions. You will also support all branches of the Engineering Department to provide services for all operating divisions.
+ You will lead the strategic direction, policy, and decision making to multiple operational functions to deliver process improvements, data collection, and visualization.
+ You will mitigate risk across multiple functional groups (Operations, Design, Construction Management, Survey/Mapping/Utility Locates and Construction Safety).
+ You will manage the team of operational support staff. You will coach, mentor, and train a group of diverse staff to support growth and development and create an inclusive team environment that works towards a shared vision. You will also create and manage team budget.
+ You will manage Engineering contracts including all consultant contracts. You will also evaluate consultant contract needs/requests and budget, manage consultant contract tracking in accordance with policies.
+ You will champion, lead, develop, implement, and update fleet processes, policies/standard operating guidelines within the Port Maintenance fleet management program.
+ You will manage engineering assets including furniture, equipment such as survey and safety equipment, wide-format printers, and other assets. You will also evaluate asset needs/requests and budget, approve asset purchases, manage asset tracking and disposition in accordance with Port policies.
+ You will develop, implement and update department asset databases and policies/standard operating guidelines. You will develop strategies for renewal and replacement of key assets.
+ You will manage Full Time Employee (FTE), small capital, fleet, and facilities budget changes, collaborating with Corporate Finance and Budget in reconciliation after each budget year and for changes throughout the year.
+ You will implement project controls for the operating budgets and expense projects. You will also manage and perform analysis of all engineering financial data and provide recommendations and implementation strategies for all financial aspects including allocations and overheads.
Who you are:
+ **Experienced** – You have six (6) years of experience in operational management including fleet, facility, finance, contracting, or systems management, to include two (2) years of supervisory/leading/mentoring experience including leading a project or process.
+ **Desired** – We hope you have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or finance.

You can also negotiate and resolve conflicts with multiple vested stakeholders on issues of technical and organizational importance.
What else you need to know:
+ **Work Schedule** – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work during emergencies.
+ **Work Environment -** This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
+ **Washington State Residency Requirement** – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
+ **Safety Requirements** – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
+ **Security Requirements** – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
