Job Description:
Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting for a **Senior Test Equipment Engineer** within our MedTech Surgery organization. The location for this position is **Santa Clara, CA.**

The MedTech Surgery organization was recently established to combine Ethicon’s market-leading surgical portfolio with the Robotics & Digital Solutions portfolio. The MedTech Surgical organization is comprised of: Wound Closure & Healing and Biosurgery, Endo Mechanical and Energy, OTTAVA (Surgical Robotics), MONARCH (Flexible Robotics), and MedTech Digital.
**The Senior Test Equipment Engineer will lead the development, design, optimization and testing of custom test systems for MONARCH Platform instruments and accessories** **_._** The Senior Test Equipment Engineer will be part of cross-functional teams (including Instruments & Accessories, Vision, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering and Systems Engineering) that are responsible for characterizing and testing medical instruments and accessories, ensuring that the devices meet safety, clinical, and user requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) in leading the design, development, and continuous improvement of custom test equipment and fixtures for medical instruments and accessories.
+ Lead the troubleshooting and resolve issues involving test equipment that integrate robotics, optics, and electromagnetic technologies.
+ Develop, validate, and execute test methods for medical instruments and accessories to accurately characterize and verify the design against performance requirements.
+ Analyze test results, identify issues, and provide recommendations for design and process improvements.
+ Document test methods and results clearly and comprehensively.
+ Drive cross-functional requirements by collaborating with teams to support integration of medical instruments and accessories into broader robotic platform.
+ Utilize CAD software to build and optimize fixtures and tooling for custom test systems.
+ Create documentation including test protocols, test reports, engineering studies, drawings, and other technical documents in accordance with Quality System requirements.
Required:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
+ 5+ years of experience in the medical device industry or regulated industry.
+ Demonstrated experience in building and validating high-precision, automated custom test equipment.
+ Strong experience in Design Control and working in a cross-functional team setting bringing products from concept to commercialization in regulated industry (such as medical device, automotive, aerospace).
+ Working knowledge of component manufacturing processes (cabling, assembly, fabrication, 3D printing).
+ Knowledge of mechanical design, mechatronics, sensors, electronics and software management.
+ Strong understanding of data analysis and statistics.
+ Knowledge of FDA regulations and ISO standards.
+ Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
+ Must be highly organized with the ability to work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize projects and tasks.
+ Ability to work at Santa Clara, CA site.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $121,000.00 to $194,350.00
