Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
This position is responsible for managing and coordinating all research and data efforts for the Center for Resiliency (CfR). This position will work closely with the CfR Executive Director in evaluating the Center’s strategic plan effectiveness in the areas of research and data management in creating a data collaborative for the Southeast Texas Region. This position will establish, lead, and manage a data collaborative to provide the southeast Texas region with a knowledge repository that supports the community resilience to disaster. This position will provide leadership and oversight of a research hub consisting of internal Lamar University research teams and funded research teams from outside Lamar University.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
+ Manage and coordinate operations, payroll, purchase orders, and annual reporting for all research fellow team and external research contracts. Manage and coordinate all research Request for Proposals through Competition Space or other systems that may be deemed necessary. Establish and maintain coordination for GIS operations and application support between Lamar University and the Southeast Texas region stakeholders.
+ Establish and manage data collection and data repository management systems for the Center for Resiliency. This includes managing the interface for stakeholder access and Lamar University Library coordination for archiving activities.
+ Manage and coordinate knowledge transfer team activities of faculty and graduate assistants to convert academic knowledge into relevant and applicable knowledge for the Southeast Texas community.
+ Manage and coordinate all Graduate Research Assistant activity to include tracking reporting and performance reports.
+ Coordinate with the CfR Associate Director of Engagement and Education for community partnerships to complete research projects and support CfR conference, association, and journal efforts.
+ Advise the CfR Executive Director on research and data management function strategic planning.
+ Conduct relevant research as necessary to support the CfR and Lamar Mission.

+ Proficiency in computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

+ Demonstrate strategic planning capability.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift 25 lbs. and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings. Sitting most of the time.
Job Conditions:
Typical schedule is M-F 8am-5pm. This position supports essential functions of the Center for Resiliency and Lamar University and will occasionally work outside of normal business hours.

Minimum Qualifications
+ PhD from an accredited university.
+ Minimum of five years of related research and data management experience.
