Through research programs funded by science and technology R&D organizations within the U.S. Department of Defense, the research and development team in FAST Labs collaborate across the enterprise. On this team, you ll have the opportunity to create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing.
FAST Labs is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer with at least 12 years of engineering experience and at least 5 years of recent systems engineering specific experience in system design, system architecture and system integration. This is a leadership role leading a group of talented systems engineers and systems engineering managers. This candidate will support the vision, strategy, planning and ongoing support for the development, deployment, and sustainment of Systems Engineering activities in support of Research and Development projects from initial concept exploration through system prototype development and test.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
+ Partner with the Product Line Engineering Lead and other business area leaders to ensure business objectives are achieved.
+ Attract and retain high potential employees to support the business; resolve resource / staffing issues.
+ Identify and develop critical skills required to meet business objectives.
+ Develop and lead continuous improvement activities and ensure adoption within the organization.
+ Establish goals and standards of performance, create budgets, staffing plans, and short and long-term strategic roadmaps/plans.
+ Understand industry trends and best practices to ensure BAE Systems develops and maintains the capabilities required to provide technical discriminators.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ At least a Bachelor s Degree in engineering with a minimum of 12 years of engineering management experience.
+ Active DoD Top Secret clearance, ability to obtain TS/SCI and SAP clearances
+ Experience managing systems engineering and/or cross discipline teams of significant size and/or complexity
+ Experience with System development from early conceptual design through Integration and Test.
+ Knowledge of DoD procurement
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Master's or PhD in a science or engineering field.
+ Proven ability to lead an organization across multiple sites.
+ Experience in one or more of the following RF/EW, Autonomy, Optical Systems, Digital Signal Processing, or Model Based Systems Engineering.
+ Significant exposure to Research and Development programs.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $150370 - $255630
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
