    We are looking for a Sustainability & Qualification Engineer interested in starting a career as part of our R&D team at PIM’s Somerset site in New Jersey. This position will report to our Manager, Product Development & Processing ,Research and Development.

     

    Job Overview

     

    The Sustainability & Qualification Engineer will support all aspects of PIM Brands sustainability strategy. This individual should be quick to adapt to challenges and insist on the highest standards. Create policies, standard operating procedures and ensure a consistent, coordinated approach to sustainability across every area of the Company.

     

    The candidate must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team and work in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required.

     

    Commissioning A well-planned, documented, and managed engineering approach to the start-up and turnover of facilities, systems and equipment to the End-User that results in a safe and functional environment that meets established design requirements and stakeholder expectations.

    Qualifications

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Identify, analyze, coordinate, and consult on environmental sustainability projects that focus on reducing PIM Brands’ environmental impact.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect sustainability information and support documentation related to company sustainability projects and strategies.

    + Support the completion of the annual sustainability reports, associated external rankings and surveys, and sustainability-focused responses to internal stakeholders.

    + Develop templates, standardized reports, and scorecards for management purposes, and for external and internal reporting.

    + Support sustainability and environmental projects, such as energy efficiency and renewable energy, water, and waste reduction efforts at our facilities.

    + Build subject matter expertise in material sustainability topics and share information on emerging issues and trends in sustainability.

    + Support cross-departmental teams implementing sustainability and renewable energy projects.

    + Identify, benchmark, and implement environmental best practices.

    + Research sustainability solutions that complement company priorities.

    + Support Sustainable Development policy implementation across PIM Brands.

    + Responsible to maintain the qualification status of systems in support of new, transferred and existing products through definition & maintenance of contemporary methodologies & standards.

    + Supports the Commissioning & Qualification Engineering Department in providing documented evidence that all equipment and utilities used are qualified and remain in a state of control so that they deliver processes and products that comply to regulatory and business specifications.

    + Responsible for review of System Qualification documents.

    + Responsible for writing and executing qualification protocols, tests and –reports based on user, quality, technical and functional requirements and other relevant information as delivered by the project team. If required, he/she will also assist the project team in writing these (project) documents.

    + Prepares for internal and external inspections and acts the spokesperson and Subject Matter Expert during audits and inspections, as pertains

    + Ability to work additional hours as needed.

     

    Education, Experience and Training

     

    + Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, biology or other related degree concentration, Masters degree a plus.

    + Must have strong analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    + Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

    + Strong project management and organizational skills.

    + Results-oriented self-starter, with the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment.

    + Organized, team-focused and capable of taking on difficult tasks and conversations.

    + Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail

    + Knowledge of Good Manufacture Practices, HACCP and SQF.

    + Willing to be trained. Ability to read, speak, and write English is required

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.

    + Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

    Worksite:

    + The PIM Brands Manufacturing Site is located in Somerset, New Jersey

    + The PIM Brands Manufacturing Site is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

    + This position requires working onsite.

     

    Work Environment

     

    + Setting is a well-lighted, temperature-controlled environment. When on the plant floor it is representative of a large, busy manufacturing operation. Noisy, active, objects on the floor, constant movement and traffic flow of motorized equipment. Hair net, beard net, assigned work uniform, protective eye wear and gloves are among the GMP required apparel that must be worn, if indicated, on the plant floor.

     

    Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions

     

    + Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling and crouching. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls. Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 15 lbs. Reasonable accommodation will be evaluated and considered to enable an individual to perform the essential job functions.
