Job Description
Patient Access & Scheduling Representative
Be the First Step in a Patient’s Healthcare Journey!
Are you a people-person who loves helping others navigate the world of healthcare? As a **Patient Access & Scheduling Representative** , you’ll play a vital role in making sure patients are on track for their appointments, financial details are squared away, and they’re ready to receive the care they need. You’ll be the friendly voice and problem-solver who makes a potentially stressful process feel smooth and easy. If you’re organized, a great communicator, and love tackling new challenges, this role is for you!
What You’ll Be Doing:
+ **Welcoming Patients with a Smile** : You’ll start by interviewing patients and families, gathering all the **demographic** and **financial info** needed to get them ready for their care journey.
+ **Navigating Health Benefits Like a Pro** : You’ll explain **health benefit regulations** and help patients understand their **financial obligations** , ensuring everything is clear from the start.
+ **Scheduling Made Easy** : Whether it’s over the phone or through written requests, you’ll coordinate appointments through the **electronic scheduling system** , keeping things running smoothly for patients and the healthcare team.
+ **Connecting to Resources** : You’ll help coordinate **referrals** to financial resources, ensuring patients have access to everything they need before their visit.
+ **Managing Insurance and Co-Pays** : You’ll validate insurance information, obtain **pre-certifications** and **authorizations** , and collect co-pays—all to keep everything in line for the patient’s visit.
+ **Paperwork Hero** : Completing **admission/registration paperwork** is crucial to getting everything in order, and you’ll ensure that all the details are accurate and complete!
What We’re Looking For:
+ **High school diploma** or equivalent.
+ **Customer Service Experience** : You should have at least **one year** of experience in a **patient access & scheduling** role—or in any **clerical, patient contact, hospital business office, or insurance** environment.
+ **Top-Notch Communication Skills** : You’ll be talking with patients, families, and hospital staff all day, so you need to be clear, concise, and approachable.
+ **Organizational Whiz** : Juggling tasks and managing multiple schedules will be second nature to you.
+ **Detail-Oriented** : Whether you’re handling insurance information or scheduling appointments, accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
+ **Written Skills** : Be ready to capture details with precise written communication and keyboarding skills.
Bonus Points (Preferred):
+ **Medical Terminology Knowledge** : It’s a plus if you have a basic understanding of medical terms, but no worries if not—we’ll help you learn!
+ **TMC Experience** : If you’ve worked at **TMC** or have similar experience in patient access, you’ll hit the ground running!
Why You’ll Love This Job:
+ **You’re the First Step** : As the first point of contact, you’ll have a big impact on the patient experience by helping them feel at ease from the moment they enter the hospital.
+ **Be Part of a Caring Team** : Work alongside an awesome, supportive team that’s passionate about making a difference in patients' lives.
+ **Variety Every Day** : Whether it’s scheduling appointments, handling insurance details, or assisting patients with referrals, you’ll never be bored!
+ **Grow Your Career** : This is a great role to get your foot in the door of healthcare. We offer opportunities for growth and development in the field.
+ **Make an Impact** : Your attention to detail and customer service will directly contribute to the patients’ smooth journey through the healthcare system.
Ready to make a difference and help patients from the moment they walk through the door? If you love multitasking, helping people, and keeping things organized, we want YOU on our team.
