The Department of Medicine: Hematology and Oncology has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator to join their team.** **POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to promote the research objectives of the Division of Hematology and Oncology. This position works with Division of Hematology faculty to facilitate investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials. This position is responsible for independently coordinating all aspects of the Johnsen Laboratory Research Program. This position will oversee and execute research efforts in multiple studies and in the coordination of multi-group projects, study data, and laboratory operational functions.
The Johnsen Laboratory is a highly collaborative research program. The laboratory leads and supports local and national studies with funding from NIH, HRSA, non-profit organizations, and industry-funded investigator-initiated studies. Examples of research studies the Senior Research Coordinator will be involved with are the Hemophilia A Research Program ( https://harpf8.org/ ), the My Life, Our Future Research Repository and cohort in the NHLBI Trans-omics for Precision Medicine Program ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/projects/gap/cgi-bin/study.cgi?study\_id=phs001515.v2.p2 ), and the VIP Study ( https://vipstudy.com/ ).
POSITION DIMENSIONS AND IMPACT TO THE UNIVERSITY
The mission statement of the University of Washington Medical Center states that the Medical Center serves as a research resource, providing an environment in which clinical research may be conducted. This position is essential to that mission. The University of Washington's Division of Hematology and Oncology is located at the UW Medical Center (UWMC), the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC), Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, and the UW Medicine South Lake Union (UW SLU). Over the past 25 years, members of the Division have developed the world's leading bone marrow transplant program. In addition, members of the Division have made substantial contributions to many other areas of cancer treatments, and novel forms of chemotherapy and hormonal therapy. Our Division is deeply committed to maintaining its position as one of the leading centers for research and treatment of cancer in the world.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Research Program Coordination and Oversight – 60%
+ Oversees all clinical/translational research aspects of the Program to include: input into and development of SOPs, data collection forms, data and sample tracking, regulatory compliance, required reporting, and the collaborative relationships that arise from the Program’s scientific research.
+ Collaborates with PI, trainees and other scientific personnel in drafting/editing scientific content including, but not limited to, specific sections of grants, contracts, abstracts, research protocols, and publications for peer-review.
+ Provides significant input on strategic planning for the Johnsen Laboratory Research Program.
+ Serves as the liaison between the Program, Division administration, other research entities, collaborators, funders and agencies.
+ Oversees project management duties to ensure that projects meet the Program’s scientific objectives.
+ Leads the conceptualization of presentations, publications and literature reviews.
+ Leads the coordination efforts of scientific presentation materials and meetings with research collaborators and boards.
+ Coordinates reporting processes to regulatory and granting agencies and ensures compliance for each study.
+ Coordinates and assists with the day-to-day human research activities to include IRB protocol preparation.Personnel Oversight - 20%
+ Provides broad oversight the primary personnel and trainees charged with Johnsen lab clinical/translational research and repositories including documentation of chain of custody of clinical research repository samples and linked experimental data, sample monitoring, and integrity. Will oversee and perform research data cleaning and analyses.
+ Provides broad oversight of the primary personnel charged with development, automation, and maintenance of data and software used to track data, samples, and research results.Laboratory Management - 10%
+ Conducts laboratory management and organization duties in coordination with other senior laboratory personnel.Other lab tasks assigned as needed for individual research projects - 10%

+ Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine.Lead ResponsibilitiesProvides broad oversight of the research and data personnel in the Johnsen lab. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Master's degree in Life Sciences or related field.
+ Minimum one year experience in clinical and translational research. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
+ Knowledge of scientific principles, clinical study design, human subjects research and clinical studies, study safety and regulatory compliance.
+ Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills with established leadership experience or leadership potential.
+ Attention to detail and accuracy in clinical study data and reporting.
+ Knowledge of genetics/genomics human research requirements.
+ Knowledge of biorepositories.
+ Ability to work independently on a variety of complex level grants/contracts.
+ Experience in oversight of NIH grants (UG3/UH3, RO1).
+ Experience in data management such as databases, eCRF data and LMS data. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Ability to work efficiently, independently and interdependently.
+ Excellent English writing skills.
+ Excellent time management and organizational skills.
