What We Need:
The Mechanical Engineering Intern is a student with sophomore standing or higher in Mechanical Engineering. This individual is responsible for assisting project team engineers in various engineering duties, including but not limited to: technology researching, conceptual product development under the guidance of a project engineer, generating and editing CAD models and drawings, competitive product testing, material testing/evaluation within a product, other duties as assigned appropriate to the individual's level of education and experience.
What You'll Be Doing:
+ Ensures quality is built into designs and driven through product development
+ Support in the Manufacturing process for injection molding, gear design, machining, sheet metal and assembly
+ Conduct and evaluate experiments with the support of a Mechanical Engineer.
+ Work in conjunction with R&D engineers to meet goals and objectives of the projects they have been assigned, making sure the projects are within established timeline and budget.
+ Plan and organize own activities according to priorities set under the guidance of an engineer or manager.
+ Work in conjunction with R&D engineers to research new technologies and to conduct appropriate testing to insure the technology meets expected specifications and performs well with Brady materials (if a system development).
+ Work with engineers and marketing to properly evaluate and test competitive products and provide meaningful reports.
+ Support the following concepts and processes: CAD modelling skills (3D: SOLIDWORKS) Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Manufacturing fabrication processes FEA and DFM Knowledge of design of machine elements Design of Experiments and Six Sigma Well rounded knowledge of Microsoft Office
What You Will Need To Be Successful:
+ Enrolled in an Engineering discipline at an accredited University.
+ Basic Mechanical Engineering knowledge
+ CAD experience
Desired Characteristics: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ SOLIDWORKS CAD experience
+ Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
+ Design for Manufacturability (DFM) of injection molded parts
+ Knowledge of design of machine elements
+ Well-rounded knowledge of Microsoft Office
+ Knowledge of Manufacturing process for injection molding, gear design, machining, sheet metal and assembly
