    GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE** **FUNCTION

    The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for helping to build, recruit, and maintain a competitive men’s basketball program on the Utica Campus consistent with all of the goals of Hinds Community College and the policies and procedures outlined in the Athletic Department Handbook.

    QUALIFICATIONS** **REQUIREMENTS

    **Education:** Bachelor’s required; Master’s degree preferred

    **Experience:** 1-2 years of competitive college coaching experience.

    **Certificate/License:** Familiar with MACCC and NJCAA governing rules

    EDUCATION AND/OR** **EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

     

    **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** , not limited to the following but may include:

     

    Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

     

    + Represent Hinds Community College and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality.

    + Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the department and the college, as well as the rules and regulations of the NJCAA and MACCC.

    + Required to live on the Hinds Community College Utica Campus.

    + Assist with all aspects of the men’s basketball program; provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential.

    + Assist with the organization and administration of the basketball program, including but not limited to the following: recruiting, practice and game coaching, conditioning, academic monitoring, and public relations.

    + Assist the head coach with recruiting plans and recruiting of potential student-athletes to the program.

    + Assist the head coach in the scouting of opponents and in preparation of game and practice plans.

    + Assist in monitoring all strength and conditioning activities for the program.

    + Monitor all academics for student-athletes.

    + Required to live on campus to facilitate good working relationships with faculty and staff and monitor student-athlete behavior (i.e., room checks and curfew enforcement).

    + Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and/or Director of Athletics that relates to the success of the program.

    + Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Athletic Director

    The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

     

    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
