Welder/Fabricator, Mechanic - Construction Equipment

Holtsville, NY

Pay: $45.71 - $56.34/hour (dependent on experience and skillset)

Key qualifications:

+ Minimum 3+ years welding experience required, (heavy equipment and metal fabrication experience highly preferred)

+ Machinist / line boring experience a plus

+ Must be computer literate and able to learn new systems

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Must be able to troubleshoot technical problems, meet or exceed labor repair guidelines, possess the ability to plan and efficiently complete assigned tasks

+ Valid Driver's License (for as needed travel to customers)

+ CDL license a plus

Responsibilities:

Successfully provide service of recognized superior value

+ Troubleshoot problems

+ Efficiently utilize resources to correct problems

+ Document steps taken to correct problems

Maximize the efficient use of service and welding processes to provide fast accurate service and minimize unnecessary expense

+ Plan proper welding and fabrication procedures for efficiency

+ Efficiently utilize tooling and technical resources

+ Continually improve key processes

+ Effectively communicate status of welding work with supervisor

A culture that focuses on safety and safe work habits

+ Be an active part in the continuous improvement of H.O. Penn's safety culture

+ Timely completion of any required safety training for self

+ Adherence to all Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies

+ Understand job risks and take appropriate steps to mitigate those risks, such as wearing all required personal protective equipment as required by task

Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

+ Standing and walking

+ Lifting (up to 60lbs.)

+ Carrying (up to 50lbs.)

+ Push/pull (up to 80lbs.)

+ Sitting, rotation and forward bending (sitting and standing)

+ Hand coordination and reaching

+ Grip (30lbs. with both hands, 80lbs. with preferred/single hand)

+ Foot pedal operation

+ Climbing stairs and ladders

+ Crawling, low work (kneeling), and awkward positioning

+ Outdoor work (as required)

+ Wearing 10-20lbs. of protective clothing, including fire resistant clothing, welding helmet/shield, & ANSI-rated protective footwear (as required)
