Professional Rank and Salary Range: $60,000 - 70,000 dependent on qualifications
Duration: Academic Year (this position follows the 10-month academic schedule)
Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking a full-time tenure-track Agricultural Science faculty position with a focus on livestock production and management to support the Department of Agricultural Science, Agricultural Business and Dairy Science at SUNY Morrisville. This position includes teaching established lectures and lab courses at the Associate and Baccalaureate levels, as well as the opportunity to develop new curricula to serve the growing Agricultural Science Bachelors of Technology program.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative team member of the Agricultural Science, Agricultural Business and Dairy Science department, eager to support the development of the next generation of Agricultural professionals.
In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to engage in departmental, institutional, and community service and scholarship. This includes academic advising, program assessment, and student recruitment, as well as may include club advisement, mentoring of undergraduate student research, grantsmanship, faculty-led internship programs, and independent research and consulting. Faculty service obligations should be balanced on campus, as well as off campus to help promote the program, support student success, and build community partners.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Curriculum Development & Classroom Instruction:
+ Courses taught may include discipline specific courses such as Introduction to Animal Science, Livestock Production and Management Techniques, Domestic Animal Behavior, and Pasture Management, as well as more general agricultural science courses such as Contemporary Issues in Agriculture, Applications in Agricultural Science, and Agricultural Science Capstone.
+ Other courses taught could include any aspect of the livestock industries (both Associate's and Bachelor's level courses) as it relates to the successful candidate's areas of expertise.
+ Hands-on experiential laboratory instruction, which SUNY Morrisville views as a key element in student success and core to our mission.
+ The successful candidate should be enthusiastic about creating an educational environment that is innovative and inspiring to students, and collaborative with other faculty in the department, division, and at the College.
Livestock Management:
+ Help to grow the new livestock program.
+ Advise and oversee students in the care of livestock animals.
+ Coordinate the summer internship program for the livestock barn.
Student Mentorship:
+ Provide guidance and support to students throughout their educational journey, including recruiting students to join our program, academic advising & retention, career counseling, supervision of student interns, and advising student clubs.
+ Foster a student-centered approach that emphasizes individual growth and prepares students for success after graduation.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
+ M.S. in Animal Science, or closely related discipline.
+ Demonstrated understanding of and experience with current livestock industry practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Ph.D. in Animal Science, or closely related field
+ Livestock industry experience
+ Experience with hands-on educational strategies and practices.
+ Experience working with both traditional and non-traditional college students.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills.
