About the Position
As a Logistics Project Manager you will coordinate all logistics deliverables at Mack Trucks manufacturing plant end to end supply chain logistics within the scope of the product & industrial projects according to Volvo’s project ways of working: R&D30, DVP & PSM. In this journey you will report to the Manager - Logistics Engineering as part of the LVO Logistics Engineering organization.
Main activities and responsibilities for the role:
+ Understand, estimate, and document potential impacts of project scenarios on material flows (both internal and external), packaging, equipment, systems, replenishment, etc.
+ Ensure development of concepts for special packaging, inbound delivery modes & internal flows
+ Coordinate process between project and sourcing teams ensuring supplier selections are aligned with internal logistics strategies (development and production suppliers)
+ Manage preparations for project pre-production builds (warehouse, storage, material flow, special packaging prototypes to be validated, and material at point of use)
+ Manage preparations for project builds (implementing developed concepts, packaging instructions, obsolete inventory, transportation setup with new suppliers, EDI links established, internal material flows and use points ready)
+ Establish communication networks within cross-functional project teams and provide reports of project status
+ Understand and manage project gate deliverables for all Logistic related items within the Project Assurance Plan (PAP) including cost impact and comparison before/after
+ Manage project-generated budgets and expenditures for Logistics (e.g. shipping racks, resource estimates, hour estimates, make vs buy etc.)
+ Develop and maintain project time plans at the work breakdown level required
+ Manage the project risks linked to logistics subjects
+ Develop and improve the logistics preparation processes in the factory
Who are you?
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Project Management, leadership capabilities and strong networking skills with the ability to manage large projects with high complexity and major deliverables
+ Strong communication, presentation, planning, analytical and organizational skills
+ Careful attention to detail with demonstrated ability to resolve challenging situation in a collaborative manner with sense of urgency
+ Volvo project management process experience; DVP, RnD30, PSM and AGILE
+ Prior experience in a cross-cultural environment
+ End 2 end holistic approach to total landed cost calculations
+ Familiar with reading prints or layouts generated by programs such as AutoCAD
+ Understanding of core concepts with Volvo Performance Systems and/or Lean Manufacturing
+ Ability to work flexible hours (including varying shifts, possible weekends and overtime) typically during product launch periods
+ Ability to travel international and domestic
Minimum Education, Experience, and Skillset
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, SCM Logistics or equivalent required
+ M.S. Degree in above majors preferred
+ 5 years experience required as a Logistics Project Manager in an Industrial or Manufacturing Environment in a heavy duty automotive industry
+ 8 years or more relevant experience is a plus
+ Practical experience in Product Development/Engineering processes
+ PMP, PMI or AGILE certifications preferred
+ Proficient in Lean Manufacturing Concepts
