This position serves our partners at the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). The MNIT DEED team provides technical support to help improve employment conditions in Minnesota. The team supports work that improves workforce and community development, increases business recruitment, and helps Minnesota small businesses to expand into international trade.
As a Quality Assurance Analyst/Tester you will have a unique opportunity to work on complex, large-scale project that impacts the state’s new Paid Leave Minnesota initiative. You’ll promote industry-leading testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects within our software systems, ensuring the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Advanced-Level QA/Testing: Perform advanced quality assurance and testing tasks, ensuring thorough scrutiny of both code quality and application outcomes.
+ Collaborative Consulting: Act as a consultant for quality assurance needs, collaborating with business representatives and development staff on system changes and implementation planning.
+ Leadership and Mentoring: Guide, consult, and collaborate with development team members. Mentor and coach less experienced QA Analysts, recommending training paths and curriculum.
+ Complex Projects: Tackle duties that are typically more intricate and expansive than those managed by less experienced QA staff, requiring minimal direction, coaching, and mentoring.

As a QA Automation Engineer, you will manage the creation of advanced automated regression, smoke and functional testing solutions for Paid Leave applications. The scope of this role will include leading development and execution of automated tests, building new automated testing processes and architectures, and meeting deliverables at every phase of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). As well as collaborating with other application staff and mentoring other testers and developers on test automation. Throughout you will collaborate with the QA Lead, and other team members on the implementation of test environments, the deployment of automation components, and mentoring of other IT Application Development staff.
This position requires an employee to be onsite in St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience in performing IT quality analysis functions.
Experience must include:
+ Experience leading all aspects of automation: planning, writing/coding/scripting, execution, analysis of results, and debugging failures.
+ Experience with software QA/QC methodologies in waterfall and agile, process, and technologies with respect to manual, automation, integration, and performance/stress testing areas.
+ Experience with test management process and tools such as Jira/qTest/ADO and knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner or JMeter).
+ Sufficient software development knowledge and experience to understand basic logic and functions for testing large scale web applications, with multiple programming languages and software development technologies including the JAVA stack and .NET stack tools and SQL.
+ Experience and understanding of Section 508 accessibility requirements and web accessibility testing
+ Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
+ Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with Ruby on Rails and Salesforce testing.
+ Experience testing web applications built on .NET or Java frameworks including hands-on API testing using tools such as Postman or SoapUI. Comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance testing methodology relative to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
+ Advanced Defect Identification skills-- capable of identifying defects from the test cases run and other means not specifically documented.
+ Proven ability to learn and utilize multiple systems and complex software.
+ Proven ability to understand inter-relationships of data and programs.
+ Proven ability to use common MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.
+ Software and software system security concepts and appropriate testing techniques.
