Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include teaching 3 courses per semester in painting and drawing (Observational Drawing, Figure Drawing, Introduction to Painting, Advanced Painting & Drawing) or other departmental offerings (ex. Studio Practice, Studio Research, Special Topics, Illustration, etc.) and maintaining all studio facilities and equipment related to the painting and drawing area. Additional responsibilities include departmental committees and other responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Education Requirements:
MFA in Painting or related field is required.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to develop curriculum and teach introductory to advanced courses in painting and drawing. The applicant should possess a thorough working knowledge in a wide range of painting and drawing techniques and styles, including oil painting and observational and non-objective approaches, with an emphasis on contemporary studio practices and knowledge of the media’s history. Evidence of strong drawing skills including figure drawing is required. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and knowledge of safety practices in painting and drawing.
