Minimum Required Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and/or one year experience in a veterinary medical setting.
The successful candidate will have a thorough working knowledge of veterinary equipment, particularly in their area of specialization. They should demonstrate knowledge of canine and feline anatomy and physiology, be able to handle and restrain patients using fear-free and feline-friendly methods, and possess knowledge of endocrinology, respiratory, urinary, gastroenterology, infectious disease, endoscopy, and interventional imaging procedures. Additionally, they must communicate professionally and positively, have basic computer skills, and be able to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Salary: Starting at $19.11/hour.
Schedule: This schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
Please Note: Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.

Some of the Responsibilities Include:
+ Internal Medicine and Interventional Radiology Duties: Prepare patients for endoscopy procedures, assist residents with various endoscopic procedures, perform aseptic surgical preparation, provide technical support for interventional radiology procedures, schedule anesthesia for procedures, instruct and supervise veterinary students, interns, and residents, maintain and process endoscopy equipment, and manage safe sedation or general anesthesia of patients.
+ Clinical Responsibilities: Instruct and supervise veterinary students, interns, and residents, monitor patients, provide physical restraint, collect and submit patient samples, assist with diagnostic procedures, administer treatments, place and maintain IV catheters, and provide technical support to other services as needed.
+ Teaching, Research, and Clinical Trials: Participate in the instruction of technical skills, assist in clinical research efforts, and support clinical trials.
+ Maintaining Safe, Clean, Sanitary Work Environment: Maintain a sanitary and well-organized service area, restock supplies, clean and disinfect items for sterilization, and maintain equipment.
+ Required Training, Compliance, and Administrative Procedures: Stay current with safety classes, rabies prophylaxis, radiation safety training, infection control, aseptic technique, and maintain appropriate certification/licensure, ensure hospital fees are correctly captured, enter worked time and leave entry into Workday, answer email correspondence, and assist with school and hospital accreditations and inspections.
