Description
Join Amazon's Global Logistics (GL) team as a Senior Data Engineer to help bring worldwide cross-border product selection to customers while enabling sellers and vendors to navigate international trade and logistics effectively. You'll develop analytical solutions that drive insights and optimization, working with talented program managers, product managers, software developers, and business leaders to design Amazon's network of the future.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipeline solutions
- Improve corporate reporting frameworks and data visualization systems
- Analyze performance data to discover and solve real-world problems
- Build metrics and business cases to enhance decision-making
- Mentor team members on technical best practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with transportation, tech, operations, and finance teams
- Drive solutions for large-scale, ambiguous problems using analytics and engineering expertise
A day in the life
As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll start your day collaborating with cross-functional partners to understand their data needs. You might spend time optimizing ETL pipelines, reviewing code with team members, or designing new data models. You'll participate in technical discussions to solve complex problems and mentor junior team members. Your work directly impacts Amazon's global logistics operations, helping to ensure products reach customers efficiently worldwide.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience mentoring team members on best practices
- CDK Fluency
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
