We are looking for a Principal, Audit Project Manager to oversee audit activities across Amazon’s Worldwide Operations with a focus on the external audit program and project management of the internal audit program. In this high visibility role, you will build relationships with senior leaders and execute strategy to scale across WHS auditing while driving improvements throughout the program and company. Our WHS Audit team is cross-functional, and you will manage a wide range of third-party contractors across multiple regions. This role has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon and requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. You must be an excellent writer who can succinctly communicate complicated technical and operational issues in business terms. You must be comfortable developing strategy and performing in a highly collaborative environment and working with your peers to accomplish joint projects and meet the objectives of WHS. You must be a strong project manager who can manage end-to-end audit projects and borrowed resources, often managing multiple projects at once.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate high judgement, clear communication, creative approaches, the ability to think big, and a consistent track record of delivering results. You will thrive in a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic environment, and you will effectively work autonomously in an ambiguous environment and be able to lead and develop cross functional teams.
This role requires ability to travel up to 30%.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and lead the strategy and execution for the external audit program across Amazon’s Worldwide Stores business.
- End to End (E2E) project management of the global internal audit program to ensure standardization and execution of key milestones are met and achieved throughout each step in the audit process
- You will be responsible managing a budget including soliciting bids, submitting of purchase orders, and reconciliation of budgets
- You will oversee a portfolio of external audits and will mentor and support audit managers and lead auditors to help them scope, plan and execute high-quality and impactful audits, which address the most important opportunities/risks.
- You will insist on the highest standards for your team and your audits, and you will be able to dive deep into every audit area, apply broad technical knowledge, sound business judgment, and partner with key stakeholders.
- You will understand complex business processes, system workflows, and technology to be able to identify the full range of risks relevant to the businesses and to help guide business owners in defining effective and value-added risk mitigation plans.

About the team
The incumbent must be an effective communicator and be able to send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing and possess excellent program management skills. This individual needs to be an expert in audit and project management. They must also have an applied understanding of global safety regulations, codes and harmonized consensus standards.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational, Health and Safety (OSH), Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), or other related fields from an accredited university
10+ years of environmental, health, and safety experience
7+ years of audit experience
7+ years of program or project management experience
7+ years of delivering cross functional projects experience
7+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in a relevant field of study
Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH)
Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Familiarity with relevant frameworks (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $214,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
