Business Data Technologies (BDT) provides trustworthy, intuitive, and cost-efficient solutions for Amazonians to secure, store, analyze, and transform this data at unparalleled scale. BDT owns, develops, and operates Andes, one of the largest data lakes in the world, storing more than 2 exabytes of data, read/written to by 100k+ data pipelines, with >60k monthly active users. Enterprise Data & Catalog (EDC)'s vision is to provide unified data storage and catalog providing fine-grained access controls, and enriched, descriptive metadata across all Amazon data for all commonly used analytical formats and storage types, including multi-modal data for AI workloads. Our mission is to provide a common platform to make Amazon data easily discovered, explained, explored for lineage and relationships, securely exchanged, and enabled for compliance. We catalog the What, When, Why, Producer, Consumers, Lineage, relationships, and Trustworthiness of datasets across Amazon. With standard and stable data access contracts and fine-grain access control, we enable integration of Amazon and AWS data tools for easy, secure, and compliant access. Having a single augmented catalog for all Amazon, we bridge the gap between data lakes and answer key data governance questions. This platform empowers Amazon to drive business insights via analytics and machine learning.
We are seeking a Principal Product Mgr - Tech, to own the three year product vision, strategy, while also providing clear, iterative roadmaps for Enterprise Data & Catalog platform. They deliver results in collaboration with Engineering teams and Principal Engineers to create clean architectures that support coherent and intuitive user experiences Specifically, in this role you will be responsible for data platform, catalog, and metadata enrichment onboarding hundreds of datalakes at Exadata scale. As a PMT within the EDC organization, you will enable developing best of the breed storage and catalog supporting variety of storage formats for both analytical and multimodal data, flexible metadata for catalog and enrichment. The right person has deep technical knowledge especially in data technologies , a high levels of customer obsession, comfortable with a high-level of ambiguity, a strong demonstrated ability to build repeatable and scalable processes, and is an independent operator skilled at aligning resources and working cross-team to deliver to Amazon wide teams.
Key job responsibilities
1. Define and build a vision for the best of breed data and catalog technologies. This includes drafting documents that work backwards from our customers (PR-FAQ style) to describe key objectives, execution strategies, goals, and solutions. You will own annual and quarterly plans, feature requirements, resourcing asks, and more.
2. Partner with stakeholders to design and align on roadmaps and goals. You will define and maintain a prioritized backlog, working closely with the development teams to understand feasibility and technical approach for each item.
3. You will write feature requirements, review technical designs, and work across teams to craft disruptive solutions for complex problems.
4. Define and execute various strategies for collecting user research and customer feedback. You will leverage both quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate launch readiness and identify areas to improve.
5. You will evaluate technology trends to define a roadmap of features that delights our customers.
6. Build and executive a go-to-market strategy for new features

Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics
- Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders
- Experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and effectively influence across cross-functional teams
- Experience technical product management
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience leading cross-organizational programs and setting and holding teams and individuals to timelines and deliverables without explicit authority
- Experience in technical product management, program management or engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
- Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
