The Network Engineer is responsible for engineering, certification, and operation of Optical, Ethernet, and IP products and services at Dobson Fiber. Requires strong understanding of Layer 1, 2, and 3 principles with practical application across multiple HW/SW vendors. Must be able to work individually and as part of a team while multi-tasking and adapting in a fast-paced environment. Requires excellent internal communication skills with occasional customer interaction. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: · Develop and execute test plans to certify products and services · Publish MOPs/EDPs for delivering new service, maintenance, upgrades, and augments · Assist with capacity planning · Configure and troubleshoot optical transport, carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS, and SD-Wan · Provide technical expertise and support to various internal departments · Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: · CCNP, JNCIP, CCIE, JNCIE, or related certifications and/or experience preferred · 5+ years of engineering service provider networks (Optical, Ethernet, and/or IP/MPLS/SD-Wan) · Nokia 7750 and 7360, Ciena, Cyan, Juniper, Cisco, Accedian, Transition, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Arbor, A10, BTI, TurinMS Office, Visio, Planet Operate, Blue Planet/MCP, Circuit Vision, Service Now, Versa Networks, Velo Cloud, VMWare, Ubuntu/Linux, Vaonet, Cacti, Python, Perl, REST/JSON REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: · DWDM, ROADM, GPON/FTTH optical transport · Hands on experience on commissioning Ciena RLS Node via Navigator NMS (formerly MCP) · Hands on experience commissioning Ciena WaveServerAI and WaveServer5 · Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), carrier Ethernet (EPL, EVPL, ELAN) · IPv4/v6 including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-Wan · Knowledge of network security standards and best practices · Knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities · Self-starter · Able to perform detailed work both individually and with team members · Strong documentation, communication, and presentation of methods and results ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS No travel expected for this position Indoor office environment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enables the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enables interpersonal communication and communication through automated devices like the telephone. SAFETY EXPECTATIONS Each employee is responsible for his/her own safety. Employees who drive company vehicles must possess a valid and appropriate driver s license for driving the vehicle, and employees who operate company equipment must be trained and authorized. Employees operating company vehicles and equipment must comply with state and federal laws and regulations. Seat belt use is required while operating any company vehicle or equipment. Texting while driving is prohibited by Dobson Fiber policy and State Law. Participate in safety committee meetings, training sessions, and surveys as requested and provide input into improving safety. Notify your supervisor or Human Resources immediately of any change in physical or mental condition or use of prescription drugs or illegal drugs that would affect the employee s job performance or the safety of him/herself or others. Working under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited at any company facility, workplace, worksite, or when operating any company vehicle or equipment. Any employee, contractor, or subcontractor who works or reports to work under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs will be subject to disciplinary action, including possible termination of employment or loss of contract. Notify the Human Resources Director within five days of serious driving, drug/alcohol, or criminal convictions. Be a safe worker on and off the job. Help coworkers do their job safely.
