    Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking an experienced **Sr. Principal Hardware Engineer – Hardware Integration Lead** in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting our Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a program out of Aurora, CO

    Roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

    + Install, implement configurations and integrate software-defined radio (SDR) applications in the context of SATCOM ground terminal systems

    + Install and integrate SATCOM front end processor (FEP) systems

    + Configure and integrate front end SATCOM components providing analog-to-digital (A/D) and DAC conversion within RF signal paths

    + Install and configure precision timing receivers and distribution systems

    + Receive, install, cable and configure a range of SATCOM and IT Infrastructure hardware including network switches, servers, timing receivers, KVMs, PDUs, MODEMs, RF switches, RF analysis instruments and fiber optic transport systems.

    + Provide Linux-based support in the configuration and execution of specialized mission applications

    + Design and implement automated processes or functions to improve daily operations as needed

    + Manage configuration of virtual machines (VMs) with VMWare, including installation of Linux and MS Windows-based operating systems

    + Manage user accounts and administer user privileges within active directory and/or LDAP

    + Interface with and manage health, status and monitoring applications and tools

    + Work with software specialists in the custom development of control and monitoring interfaces to a broad range of SATCOM ground terminal equipment

    + Collaborate in authoring system documentation and procedures

     

    This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.

    Basic Qualifications

    + Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance with an adjudicated Polygraph at time of application

    + Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; 6 years with a Master's; 4 years with a Ph.D.; _12+ of total years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree_

    + Advanced understanding of the building blocks of an Information Technology (IT) processing system providing an end-to-end data ingest and delivery architecture

    + Experience with build out of data center class IT infrastructure and specialized SATCOM hardware systems comprising a SATCOM ground terminal

    + Experience with SATCOM MODEM systems

    + Experience with SATCOM Front End Processor (FEP) systems

    + Experience executing end-to-end test procedures for SATCOM ground terminal systems

    + Experience with Linux System Administration including management, configuration and patching

    + Experience with COTS package installations and software deployments

    + Security+ certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment (maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment)

    + Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with SATCOM ground system design

    + Experience with standard systems engineering processes and business rhythms and document artifacts on DoD/IC development contracts

    + Experience with RF amplification and advanced understanding of RF power monitoring and management

    + Understanding of RF frequency conversion

    + Experience with digital modulation techniques in the SATCOM domain

    + TCP/IP networking

    + Experienced with RF over Fiber systems

    + Supplier management

    + Advanced troubleshooting skills

     

    Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
