Job Description
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking an ambitious and curious leader to find creative solutions centered around investments and partnerships to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. This leader will play a critical role in building out the future of Blue Cross NC’s growth and diversification strategy. Your work will bring ideas to life and determine how we realize our bold goal of improving healthcare for all. You will also be responsible for the governance over progress against this strategy, providing a unique opportunity to shepherd from ideation through post execution.
Reporting to the Vice President of Diversified Business Strategy, you will lead teams of direct reports (Managers and their respective teams) to structure ideas and take them through fruition. We will look for you to deploy your passion for healthcare coupled with your business acumen to spot opportunities and contribute to the execution of strategic partnerships and M&A opportunities from end-to-end. This includes developing insightful analyses and working collaboratively to foster consensus and gain executive buy-in.
What You Will Do:
+ Develop and refine the company’s short and long-term business diversification strategy including setting the long-term direction for assets under management as well as the development of business cases that provide executive leadership with strategic recommendations on inorganic growth opportunities
+ Collaborate with leadership across the company to identify, evaluate, prioritizeand execute on opportunities
+ Lead various phases of the strategic portion of the investment/acquisition process including market assessments, strategy development, target identification and screening, and due diligence
+ Lead, support, and execute day-to-day development of multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously, including managing timelines, potential risks, and final deliverables with limited input from executive sponsors
+ Lead the strategic planning process, which includes annual planning and initiative funding requests, to drive successful execution of the short- and long-term divisional business plan that includes internal and external communications and associate engagement activities
+ Drive divisional roadmap work and understands gaps and levers of influence to successfully develop and deliver initiatives that have clear performance and value measures
+ Manage and mentor teams of junior team members, including communication, structuring work, coaching / assisting, and reviewing progress
What You** **Bring** **:
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ 10+ years of experience in healthcare or strategy consulting, strategic development, market or product development or financial analysis
+ Bachelor’s degree or in In lieu of degree, 12+ years of experience in related field
+ Significant success and experience identifying new opportunities in a complex environment, creating solutions and driving change
+ 5 years experience leading teams and/or directly managing staff
+ In lieu of degree, 12+ years of experience in related field

+ Demonstrated ability to combine technical rigor with creative thinking to see beyond the obvious and imagine “what could be”
+ Proven track record of creating, maintaining, and enhancing cross-functional relationships and communicating effectively with senior management
+ Self-starter who is able to lead teams through ambiguous problems with a high level of autonomy
+ Ability to think beyond their immediate team and contributes to making the enterprise holistically better (active engagement in culture initiatives, facilitating training, leading roundtables, etc.)
+ Knowledgeable and curious about incentives of the US healthcare system

Salary Range
At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.

$146,500.00 - $278,200.00
