We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sterile Processing Technician. In this role, you will work under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical staff to ensure the operating room is set up and prepared for surgeries. You will also be responsible for preparing and transporting patients, adjusting lights and equipment, and managing surgical instruments. This position requires on-call availability to meet patient care and business needs. As part of a teamwork-oriented hospital staff, you may also cross-train in other clinical areas and perform additional duties as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Observe and assist under the supervision of surgical staff.
+ Set up the operating room and prepare surgical instruments for specific procedures.
+ Transport patients to and from the operating room.
+ Adjust lights and equipment for surgeries.
+ Manage caseloads and organize schedules.
+ Ensure trays and instruments are prepped and ready for surgeries.
+ Cross-train in other clinical areas as needed.
+ Perform additional duties based on staffing and patient needs.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in surgical instrumentation and sterile processing.
+ Knowledge of sterilization techniques and operating room procedures.
+ BLS certification.
+ Experience in a surgery center or surgical technology setting.
+ LVN license.
+ Skills in decontamination and instrumentation handling.
+ Proficiency with autoclave usage.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ At least one year of experience in an operating room (OR) setting or equivalent education/training.
Work Environment
This position follows a Monday to Friday schedule, working four 9-hour shifts with one day off during the week, depending on the schedule. Shifts run from 6:30 am to 4:00/4:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. The workload includes managing 15 to 30 cases per day, depending on the day. Responsibilities include pulling cases for the next day and up to three days in advance. Flexibility is required as rotation ensures no single person always gets the same day off.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
