Engineering Project Manager, Systems Integration

Actalent Services is hiring a Technical Project Manager for a permanent leadership role supporting engineering services engagements within our Defense Industry vertical. Preferred candidates will be local to Actalent's client business near Baltimore, MD and possess project management experience in both defense industry and systems integration (surveillance / detection systems) applications.
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple center-based managed projects through all phases of development, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, control and closure. The Project Manager will work closely with program management to procure or hire Actalent technical employees/consultants for projects and with internal support functions to deliver a great customer experience while providing leadership and direction to our project teams to meet Cost, Quality and Timing requirements. This role requires maintaining and growing relationships with key Aerospace and Defense client stakeholders and Actalent’s onsite engineering teams to enhance project performance in support of customer business goals.
Essential Functions
+ Manage multiple center-based/onsite managed projects through all phases of development, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, control and closure while following Actalent’s Services Management Framework (SMF)
+ Ensure compliance to customer specifications, quality standards, regulatory requirements, company work rules and procedures and safety requirements
+ Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules and documentation including change management, risk mitigation and reporting
+ Develop tracking methods to monitor customer and internal KPI
+ Work closely with Delivery Operation’s team to align project management with account management
+ Distribute workflow from customer to Group Leaders and Practice Managers to allocate to their teams
+ Maintain a high level of relationships with all customer stakeholders
+ Utilize program management skills of communication, presentation, time management, organization and planning to successfully achieve program goals and objectives and SLA’s
+ Conduct periodic status meetings with customers and team to assess progress against the plan
+ Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly status reports to Actalent Services' management and appropriate client recipients
+ Work closely with Delivery Operations to resolve all project issues with customer and suppliers as appropriate while working with Actalent’s internal teams
+ Additional responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving problems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or related engineering discipline required.
+ Minimum 10 years of overall professional experience in engineering and project management roles. Prior mechanical, electrical, systems engineering experience necessary for success in role
+ Minimum 3 years of engineering project/program management and people management experience. Experience leading outsourced projects and virtual teams is a plus
+ Aerospace (military applications) and Defense industry background required; proven expertise integrating surveillance/detection systems into military vehicles or aircraft highly desired to lead successful projects
+ Prior team/people management experience in identifying and facilitating team training needs and assigning appropriate levels of work to individuals with commensurate experience/skills
+ Process development experience to identify and implement processes where gaps exist
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate and present to customer groups and manage client expectations
+ Strong organizational and time management skills
+ PMP Certification a plus; proven knowledge of project management methods required
+ Highly proficient in PC applications (MS Office suite of tools)
+ Ability to travel domestically as needed, up to 20%
+ Applicants must be U.S. Citizen with experience leading projects meeting ITAR compliance
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
$10,000 annual bonus potential, employee profit sharing program, 4 weeks paid time-off, 6 paid holidays, monthly cell phone allowance, 401(k) w/company match, M/D/V benefits
