Job Title: Container Engineer
Job Description
The role of a Container Engineer involves developing, validating, and implementing specialized containers to ship components and sub-assemblies into assembly plants. This position requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders, understanding supply chain and manufacturing constraints, and ensuring part quality while optimizing container density and logistics to minimize costs. Key skills include manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as project management.
Responsibilities
+ Develop packaging solutions that support multiple stakeholders in the supply base, logistics, and manufacturing.
+ Execute project management on multiple container designs and commodities to support future program milestones and deliveries.
+ Develop validation protocols including loading, transportation, and unloading to ensure robust designs.
+ Ensure high first-time quality in packaging solutions with zero rework.
+ Prioritize workload to support multiple programs and studies concurrently, working independently to meet goals and KPIs.
+ Serve as the technical expert for packaging at the commodity level to support future strategies from a container and logistics perspective.
+ Lead discussions and identify critical constraints for container support while controlling costs within multifunctional groups.
+ Communicate effectively across organizations using good communication and computer skills.
+ Preferably possess knowledge of 3D modelling and CAD software such as UG-NX and TeamCenter.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
+ Over two years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Experience related to packaging designs utilizing 3D modelling and design software.
+ Working knowledge of material handling and manufacturing processes.
+ High level of analytical ability for unusual and difficult problems.
+ Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
+ Hands-on problem solving ability.
+ Self-motivated with strong initiative.
+ Project management and organization skills.
+ Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Strategies and Quality Systems.
+ Good business acumen, organizational and strategic agility.
+ Experience in developing cost/benefit data analysis.
+ Red X/problem solving proficiency.
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
+ Knowledge of vibration data acquisition and testing.
+ Unigraphics NX, TcAE, Autoweb knowledge and application.
+ ISTA or ASTM validation and testing protocols.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $46.00/hr.
