This is a specialized role which requires physical interaction with hardware equipment in a simulated data center environment, utilizing Google labs, power, and safety equipment. Regular development and processing of engineering hardware must be performed on site.
Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 3 years of experience designing and testing multiple subsystems and systems (e.g., software, robotics algorithms, electrical systems, mechanical systems, control systems).
+ 3 years of experience with industrial electrical control system components and system design, and regional industrial and safety standards (e.g., International Organization for Standardization, National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), Robotic Intelligence and Automation (RIA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), etc.).
Preferred qualifications:
+ 5 years of experience with the overall process for developing products, including experience identifing issues and considerations for delivering a product.
+ Experience in C++, C#, or Python and with Cloud-based software technologies (e.g., PubSub, IoT, Data Warehouses, etc.).
+ Experience with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence or OpenCV, etc.).
+ Experience using electronic and mechanical fabrication and test equipment.
+ Experience with standard-based practices in safety and electrical.

The Data Center Automation Services (DAS) Engineering team is a rapid iteration group focused on defining and stewarding automation standards for Google, designing, building, and deploying the right amount of automation capability for our partner teams, and providing engineering experience and leadership when developing future roadmaps toward optimal use of automation throughout the manufacturing, supply chain, and data center facilities that support Google as it scales the fleet.
The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. + Operate seperately within a project, providing technical expertise on projects while responsible for the implementation of control system solutions and their maintenance / improvement.
+ Help develop and maintain design blocks or components/part of a systems product. Integrate design blocks or components/parts to create product subsystems.
+ Help identify flaws and issues with hardware components or systems, debug standard issues, risks, or trade-offs, and address common hardware failures by identifying corrective solutions.
+ Help build prototypes of systems design components or blocks to evaluate the impact of a design or feature. Utilize prototypes to test designs.
+ Document systems design and its implementation throughout the product life-cycle.
