**Location** : Temple, TX
**Job Title:** Forensic Coordinator RN
**Department:** Forensics Team
**Population:** Children and Adult
**Schedule:** Full Time, 40 hours per week, Days: Monday-Friday, 8- or 10-hour shifts, with the max call requirement of 36hrs every 6 weeks

The Forensic Medicine department at Baylor Scott & White Health includes the Sexual Assault and Violence Response Team and the Child Protection Team. Together, they provide compassionate, sensitive, timely care for victims of violent crimes, child abuse and neglect.

Job Summary
As a Forensic Coordinator RN, manage an assault prevention program. Provide services to assault survivors. Gather forensic evidence precisely. Oversee procedures and coordinate with healthcare providers. Occasionally perform related duties.
Essential Functions of the Role
+ Facilitating care coordination for assault victims alongside emergency, pediatric, obstetrics/gynaecology, family practice, and other specialized medical personnel.
+ Performing exams for assault victims following all nursing, medical, and legal guidelines at local and international levels.
+ Experienced healthcare provider offers advice on assault-related healthcare, giving information and guidance on relevant medicolegal issues to medical staff.
+ Maintaining detailed healthcare records associated with forensic patients, diligently updating and managing databases.
+ Establishing standards for collecting assault evidence is crucial. This involves administering medications to prevent infections, HIV, and pregnancy.
+ Implementing your knowledge and experience in biomedical and medicolegal investigations for the immediate and follow-up nursing care of violence victims.
+ Create PR plans and organize educational programs for the community, law enforcement, advocates, and medical staff. Engage with government, civil groups, and organizations on assault care issues. Advise on current processes.
+ Recruit and train assault examiners. They conduct physical and forensic exams on victims to gather evidence. Evaluate their performance regularly.
Key Success Factors
+ Comprehensive understanding of professional nursing practices, along with familiarity with the specific needs of assault victims and other forensic patients.
+ Familiarity with fundamental techniques used in forensic examinations, non-accidental trauma assessments, and sexual assault examinations.
+ Knowledge about the various approaches used for health counseling and education, aimed at patients, their families, and wider community groups.
+ Knowledge of nursing care accrediting bodies’ laws, rules, and regulations is crucial. Understanding hospital and department standards is also important.
+ Know medical terms, health procedures, disease prevention, and management. Awareness of medications, their effects, and possible reactions is crucial.
+ Proven insights into medical and professional nursing ethics, as well as patient privacy rights.
+ Excellent communication skills, including the ability to express thoughts clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
+ Proven social skills to interact meaningfully with a wide variety of constituencies.
+ Critical problem-solving skills are essential. Focus on observing patient conditions and effectively communicating changes to staff and professionals.
+ Ability to provide quality care tailored to patients of all ages, respecting diversity and adjusting care plans as needed.
+ Basic computer skills are required, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, payroll systems, electronic medical records, and email.

Qualifications
+ Requires an associate degree.
+ At least (3) three years of relevant professional experience.
+ (RN) Registered Nurse License, and candidates must have completed a 64-hour Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program.
