    CTG is seeking to fill a Principal Java Backend Engineer – Distributed Systems opening for our client.

     

    **Location:** Lowell, MA (open to remote, but must work EST hours)

    **Duration:** 5 months

    **Hours:** 8am – 5pm EST

    Duties:

    Our Principal Engineers work with a variety of technologies and groundbreaking products. You will design and develop product features that address complex market problems while meeting project deadlines, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability. Day-to-day responsibilities involve back-end development, with some work on the UI side.

    Skills:

    Must Have:

    + Strong software development skills in Java (not a full stack role)

    + Proficiency in developing high-performance Java-based applications

    + In-depth knowledge of Spring and Spring Boot frameworks

    + Strong understanding of distributed systems, Web Services, and microservices architecture

    Good to Have:

    + Python programming experience

    + Experience with DOCSIS or PON (Passive Optical Network) technologies

    + Familiarity with network management or finance-related applications

    Order of Preferences:

    + Relational DBs, SQL, Cassandra, Solr

    + RabbitMQ, Kafka, Kafka Stream

    + SNMP

    + Cable and/or FTTH network, DOCSIS, PON

    + Spring Boot, Spring Frameworks

    + Apache Ignite

    + Cloud platforms preferred (Azure or AWS)

    Experience:

    + 8+ years of software product development experience in a Linux distributed applications environment

    + Experience in design and development of large-scale distributed applications

    + Solid understanding of network programming, including Sockets, TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, and related protocols

    + Exposure to cloud-native architecture and containerized application deployments

    Education:

    + BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

     

    Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
