SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position is Onsite.
The System Director, Infection Prevention will be responsible for developing and implementing system–wide strategies to reduce the risk of health care associated infections and communicable diseases inpatient, staff, and visitors. This position will assess, develop, implement and maintain a progressive and innovative infection and prevention plan across the health system. This will include responsibility for departmental goals that coincide with the organizational goals, performance improvement as well as surveillance, analysis, interpretation and reporting of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) and infection prevention education.
The System Director, Infection Prevention will report to the Executive Vice President and System Chief Medical Officer.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES:** The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
+ Develops, implements, and evaluates infection preventions goals that align with the organizational goals on a yearly basis. Maintains a budget and staffing plan that meets organizational needs.
+ Engage system infection prevention practitioners and other key leaders. Articulate an enhanced vision and strategy for Infection Prevention and Control that is geared to drive the highest quality, safest care as well as consistency across the system.
+ Serves as facilitator for Infection Control Committee activities, meetings, minutes, and reports.
+ Oversees and directly supervises leadership and individual contributor infection prevention staff, including orientation, training, and evaluation within established guidelines.
+ Provides supervision and coordination of all activities for surveillance and control of health-care associated infections in patients, visitors, and staff.
+ Compiles statistical reports and submits to Infection Prevention and Control Committee and appropriate departments.
+ Identify barriers both system-wide and within facilities to achieving zero infection harm. Develop and put into place strategies to achieve zero infection harm to patients and staff.
+ Identify opportunities to create and enhance standard work flow processes across the system. In addition, identify and bring forth best practices within and external to the system.
+ Enhance focus on education programs for infection prevention for all staff. Define specific metrics.
+ Develops, reviews, and revises infection prevention and control policies and procedures in conjunction with departmental directors. Assures the health system's compliance with state and federal regulations related to infection prevention and control.
+ Participates as requested on teams, committees, and special projects both internal and external to the organization, including Environment of Care and Employee Health.
+ Complies with all standards for safety, risk management, infection prevention and control as required by policies and procedures and accreditation/enforcement agencies.
+ Leads department to establish health system infection prevention standards. Provides training and best practices to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
+ Bachelor's degree in clinical field of practice.
+ 7 years of Infection Prevention and Control experience.
+ 5 years of supervisory experience.
+ Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC).
+ Master's Degree in Public Health, Nursing, or related field preferred.
