Works in the build, implementation, and maintenance of automation and technology to optimize pharmacy practice, pharmacy systems, and the medication use process. Specializes in the medication process, from ordering to administration, and is r
esponsible for effective process design, development, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record and Clinical Decision Support. Supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians as the resource for requests related to EMR and pharmacy system changes and additions.
Responsibilities:
+ Develops, designs, implements, maintains and evaluates pharmacy information technology and automation functionality to maintain compliance and with accepted standards of pharmacy practice.
+ Coordinates with information systems to resolve issues and/or re-design processes when warranted. Participates in meetings with department, hospital, and corporate committees and groups related to pharmacy information system issues.
+ Maintains computer databases that support appropriate record keeping and patient charge functionality. Assists in audits related to medication therapy and pharmacy patient charges.
+ Coordinates orientation and training of hospital staff on pharmacy computer and automation systems.
+ Collaborates with department director to develop short and long range plans and priorities and assists in budgeting for information systems projects.
Required:
+ Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
+ Registered pharmacist in the State of Michigan or eligible for State licensure.
+ Knowledge and experience with pharmacy computer systems and automated medication dispensing systems.
Preferred:
+ Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree highly preferred.
+ Three – fiveyearsofpharmacy experience [hospital setting strongly preferred].
