Job Summary
We are seeking a Quality Technician I for our Platteville location in Wisconsin. This role will perform audits to verify compliance with policies, procedures, and practices. Additionally, they will conduct product testing as needed and identify correction action to be taken to resolve issues from the audit.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Daily environmental sampling and testing of finished goods and products
+ Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
+ Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to necessary personnel
+ Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests
+ Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database
+ Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions
+ Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
+ Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
+ Participate in internal, 3rd party, and customer audits, as needed
+ Assist with hold and non-conformance investigations, as needed
+ Communicate with Quality Manager, Production Manager, and Plant manager on lab results and quality improvements
+ Actively participate on EOE Teams that improve workplace safety, reduce waste and improve factory efficiencies
+ May be required to work overtime if deemed necessary with occasional weekend work.
+ Maintain, organize, and clean lab and equipment
+ Report any and all injuries to your supervisor or manager at the time of injury
Qualifications / Minimum Requirements
+ Associate's degree preferred
+ 2+ years of quality inspection experience required
+ Ability to obtain HACCP certification within first year
+ Ability to obtain Preventative Controls for Qualified Individual Certification within first year
+ Microbiology and food safety training, preferred
+ Knowledge of cheesemaking, Pasteurization Milk Ordinance (PMO), and food safety, preferred
+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages
+ Ability to perform algebraic calculations
+ Intermediate computer skills including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to work with automated equipment
+ Ability to work with moderate supervision
+ Valid Driver’s license and insurance required
+ A personal vehicle is required, depending on location
+ Travel required on an almost daily basis within town or to other locations
