This position serves to protect the economic welfare and health of the people of the State of Michigan, as it pertains to motor fuels quality, vapor recovery and reduction and weights and measures laws and regulations. This position uses their knowledge of scientific methodology and theory to conduct investigations for fraudulent activities regarding motor fuels held, offered or intended for sale in Michigan, including specialized requirements for vapor recovery and reduction; licensing of retail gasoline outlets; wholesale fuels sampling; and the development and proper commercial utilization of alternative fuels. This position conducts investigations regarding the installation and proper use of motor fuels measuring devices; enforces National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) requirements; and ensures that Michigan Registered Service Agency requirements are met.
