Ambulatory Medication Access Coordinator (AMAC)

Join our patient-centered team dedicated to removing medication access barriers and optimizing ambulatory care. As the **Ambulatory Medication Access Coordinator (AMAC)** , you'll play a vital role in streamlining access to high-cost, take-home specialty medications—ensuring timely treatment for patients and clinical efficiency for providers.
Working across clinics, payers, and pharmacy operations, the AMAC serves as the point person for **medication access navigation** , **insurance coordination** , and **reimbursement optimization** . You'll advocate for patients through complex benefit investigations, prior authorization support, and financial assistance programs—making a measurable impact in lives and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Serve as the **primary liaison** between TMC patients, ambulatory care teams, and the pharmacy department for **medication access and reimbursement issues**
+ Conduct detailed **benefit investigations** and complete **insurance prior authorizations** for high-cost outpatient medications
+ Identify **financial assistance programs** , including manufacturer-sponsored support, grants, and alternative coverage options
+ Monitor, track, and resolve issues related to **payment denials, coverage gaps** , and under-reimbursement
+ Compile data and reports for **contract optimization, utilization trends** , and **payer performance**
+ Assist in developing and refining workflows that promote **clinic efficiency and timely patient access**
+ Refer patients to copay assistance and charity programs, when applicable
+ Collaborate with internal pharmacy teams and external payers to maintain **excellent service continuity**
+ Perform **retrospective utilization reviews** for denied claims and recommend process improvements
Minimum Requirements:
• **Bachelor’s degree** in a healthcare-related field OR an equivalent combination of education and healthcare/pharmacy experience
• **3 to 5 years** of experience in healthcare access, specialty pharmacy, prior authorizations, or insurance benefit management
• **Registered Pharmacy Technician** in Missouri at time of hire
• **National technician certification** (PTCB or equivalent) within 6 months of hire
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in **Word, Excel, databases, and electronic health systems**
• Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and **conflict resolution skills**
• Ability to work independently and prioritize in a **dynamic, high-volume environment**
• Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal abilities across diverse clinical teams
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience with **medication reimbursement and billing processes**
+ Familiarity with **pharmacy benefit management (PBM), prior authorization platforms** , or EHR systems
+ Understanding of **insurance coverage, medical/pharmacy coding** , and ambulatory care workflows
+ Proven track record in securing **patient access to specialty medications**
