    The Personal Care and Supplies Assistant (PCA) supports the health, comfort, and dignity of children in our Complex Medical Program by managing personal items such as clothing and hygiene supplies. The PCA helps create a personalized and nurturing environment by ensuring each resident’s needs are met with care and attention. This role also assists with unit operations, including project support, meeting documentation, internal communications, and maintaining the Compassion Cart—helping to uplift both residents and staff through thoughtful, day-to-day contributions

     

    When You'll Work

     

    Monday-Friday, 7 am -3:30 pm with some flexibility to meet unit needs.

     

    Benefits This role is full-time and eligible for health benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, paid time-off, and a 403b retirement account. PTO starts accruing immediately!

     

    What You'll Do

     

    + Clothing Management Maintains and organizes each resident’s closet or dresser. Removes clothing that is ripped, stained, ill-fitting, or in poor condition. Purchases new items as needed or communicates clothing needs to families. Coordinates with therapy staff regarding adaptive clothing for orthotics or winter gear. Regularly checks unmarked items and collaborates with laundry staff to ensure proper labeling.

    + Personal Items Keeps residents' personal belongings organized and in good condition, including splints, decorations, grooming items, electronics, and bedding. Maintains and cleans resident bath caddies. Purchases personal care items as needed or communicates needs to families. Ensures availability of specialty products based on allergies or preferences.

    + Haircuts and Massages Coordinates haircuts for residents, maintains a haircut schedule, communicates with unit leaders and families, and assists the beautician on haircut days. Submits payment requests for services. Alongside the Care Coordinator, schedules massages and communicates the schedule with staff.

    + Seasonal Decorations and Celebrations Oversees seasonal unit decorations, including setup, takedown, and storage. Collaborates with the Great Life team on birthday celebrations and other events.

    + Admissions, Transfers, and Discharges Prepares rooms for new admissions and organizes room clean-up after discharges. Packs and unpacks residents’ belongings for admissions, discharges, home visits, and trips.

    + School Support Packs and delivers monthly school supplies. Assists with transporting residents to and from the bus staging area or in-house school classrooms.

    + Communication Maintains professional, effective communication with teammates and families. Supports internal media updates for staff.

    + Commitment to Excellence Continuously looks for ways to enhance the unit and improve the daily experience of residents.

     

    What You'll Need

     

    + High school diploma/GED

    + One year of experience with children with severe developmental disabilities.

    + Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.

    + Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
