    Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively. Responsibilities Responsible for checking library materials in and out and verifying that customers are authorized to use the facility. Issues library cards to new patrons. Explains library rules, regulations, circulation procedures, and entitlements to library customers. Accepts payments for lost or damaged materials. Takes requests for reserves and inter/intra library loans, and periodically checks to see that requests are filled. Accurately compiles and records statistics on library usage such as book circulation, attendance, computer searches, reference questions, etc. Assists customers in locating and utilizing library departments, catalogs, directories, indexes, files, and standard reference materials. Performs technical service reviews of new library materials, including books, DVDs, CDs, and other media items, to ensure accuracy. With Librarian approval, reviews and submits orders for new library materials. With oversight from the Librarian, create, review, modify, and implement tools to ensure that essential library functions and tasks are being properly performed and completed on a daily basis. Relays instructions from supervisor. Gets work started and sets work pace. Demonstrates work methods, and provides work-related guidance. Checks on work and meets productivity goals. Provide monthly staff training on online resources and in-house resources. Assists the Librarian by tracking the completion of staff annual training requirements. Performs a variety of general office and clerical tasks in support of library operations. Answers the telephone, takes messages and refers callers to appropriate staff members. Arranges and files items in subject and chronological order in accordance with Marine Corps records management policies and procedure. Picks up, sorts, and distributes mail accurately and within established time frames. May be required to support or facilitate family programs and events at any of the Library program sites, to include Main or Branch Library. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position will be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as assigned. Must have three years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of standard, professionally accepted techniques and methods of a library or library system. Must have knowledge of the library's online computer system. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Specialist applications, to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must have the ability to operate basic library equipment such as copying machine and audio-visual equipment. Must have knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, syllabication, and punctuation required to prepare routine correspondence and to file and locate materials accurately. Must be able to properly use a debit/credit card machine and prepare applicable financial statements. Must possess a current, state-issued driver's license. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
