About the organization: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco's homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.
About the team: Compass's portfolio of housing programs empower homeless San Francisco families to find and keep safe, stable, affordable housing. Families receive help with housing search, money for move-in costs and rent, and case management designed to set families up for long term housing stability. Our housing programs portfolio also includes a brand new homelessness prevention pilot.
Salary: $125,000 - $135,000
Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday

As the Senior Director of Housing Programs, you'll lead a team devoted to securing stable, long-term housing for families in need. You'll oversee an annual budget of around $20 million, spearhead program initiatives, and serve as an ambassador for Compass' housing programs, both internally and within the community.
As the Senior Director of Housing Programs programs, you will supervise and foster the leadership skills of 4 Program Directors. Together with the 50+ staff members on our housing programs teams, you'll assist homeless families in securing lasting housing solutions. Program support encompasses housing search, rental subsidies, case management, and aftercare services, ensuring sustained stability.
The Candidate:
We seek an experienced leader capable of overseeing program components, ensuring optimal service provision, and driving impactful outcomes. Ideal candidates will possess a track record in managerial roles within social work or related fields, demonstrating exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Specific qualifications:
+ At least 5 years of experience in staff supervision, including direct and indirect reports. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach, and mentor.
+ At least 5 years of experience developing and managing complex nonprofit programs.
+ Deep understanding and experience with direct service programs for at risk individuals. Experience with residential and/or other homeless housing programs preferred.
+ Experience overseeing contracts, managing budgets, and maintaining relationships with funders.
+ Strong communication, advocacy, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
+ Experience supporting individuals in crisis and with trauma-informed care.
+ Deep commitment to and demonstrated success discussing, integrating, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging throughout a complex and dynamic organization.
+ Degree in social work, non-profit administration/management or related field encouraged but not required, or a combination of equivalent educational and lived experience.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; Salesforce experience a plus.
+ Bilingual Spanish a plus.
+ Real estate experience a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
+ Salary range: $125,000 - 135,000 per year.
+ Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation in your first year, 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave, and time off for education.
+ Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
+ Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-6.
