Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Instructs faculty, staff and affiliates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation psychomotor skills for certification or recertification as required.
+ Teaching
+ Set up mannequins, ensuring connectivity to feedback devices, and load required American Heart Association (hereafter AHA) videos.
+ Lead engaging Basic Life Support Classes according to any and all AHA guidelines and CEL standard practices.
+ Proctor and grade written exams, ensuring the integrity of the exam, and following CEL standard practices for revisions.
+ Clean up class, including returning mannequins to appropriate storage bags and maintaining CEL standards for cleanliness and sanitization. Return all materials to the designated area on the cart.
+ Communication
+ Report any concerns regarding the quality of AHA instructors or classes within 24 hours.
+ Report any malfunctioning equipment or low battery levels to the Training Center Administrator or Training Center Coordinator, verbally or via email, upon discovery of concern.
+ Notify Training Center staff of any upcoming courses taught outside of the CEL.
+ Training
+ Maintain AHA Basic Life Support Instructor status, attending any/all required recertification or update classes.
+ Submit to periodic, random, course monitoring to ensure compliance.
+ Follow all requirements outlined in AHA Instructor Alignment Agreement.
+ Administrative
+ Ensure accuracy and preference of learner’s names/emails.
+ Secure and submit rosters and exams as per CEL standards.
+ Maintain an accurate instructor profile.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ High School diploma required
+ or equivalent combination of education and experience required
+ Emergency medical field experience (e.g., EMT/Paramedic) preferred.
+ 6 months of work or volunteer experience preferred.
+ Teaching experience preferred.
+ Ability to understand and follow instructions required.
+ Ability to receive instruction in a professional manner required.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and spoken required.
+ Organization, reliability, and punctuality required.
+ Willing and able to work a varied, flexible schedule required.
+ Ability to teach interesting and engaging classes, working with a variety of experienced educators required.
+ Ability to adapt teaching to new requirements as put forth by the American Heart Association required.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality of exams, learner testing scores required
+ Basic computer skills preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
+ American Heart Association BLS Instructor Certification required
