    Job Summary

    The Program Manager for College Access is the lead designer of WP's 7th through 12th grade system of college and career exploration and preparation. Responsibilities include developing and improving the scope and sequence, coordinating its advising and coaching practices, and SAT preparation across the hybrid and remote programs. The Program Manager will report to the Associate Director. Wolverine Pathways is a hybrid work environment.

    Wolverine Pathways seeks to confront the barriers that limit the college and career aspirations of highly motivated students from under-resourced communities. Every student deserves the opportunity to pursue a wide range of professional and academic pathways. Toward this end, we provide free college preparatory enrichment and guidance for 7th through 12th-grade students in Detroit, Southfield, Ypsilanti, and 10th through 12th-grade students in Grand Rapids.     Responsibilities*

    Program Leadership & Supervision (65%)

    + Design and improve the scope and sequence for WP's overall system of college and career advising, including developing and improving curriculum and practices, as well as complementary learning activities (e.g., student and family workshops, campus visits to Flint and Dearborn campuses, SAT Prep).

    + Convene and support the work of staff members by assuming leadership in facilitating the daily implementation of the scope and sequence and central practices (i.e., Program Coordinators/Success Coaches and College Counselors).

    + Be the primary contact for parents and families around college advising. Using phone calls and in-person meetings in the office and the community, the Program Manager for College Access will provide high school and middle school students with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate the college journey.

    + Train and supervise instructors who implement 10th and 11th-grade advising courses, and college application advisors who support scholars in completing their college applications.

    + Coordinate workshops and trainings to support us in maintaining a college-going culture and the continued learning and development of staff central to WP's college and career advising system.

    12th Grade Advising/Coaching (25%)

    + Advise 12th graders and their families on completing the college exploration and selection process, including hosting office hours and providing one-on-one advising on these and other related matters (e.g., completing the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and evaluating scholarship options). Direct them to pertinent resources and offices as needed.

    Additional Administrative Responsibilities (10%)

    + Maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, schools, the community, and campus partners.

    + Conduct (in consultation and cooperation with the Associate Director and Data Manager) data collection and analysis to ensure that all programming objectives are met to inform process improvement and reporting.

    + Research and remain up to date on current practices and education legislation.

    + Assume additional administrative responsibilities as requested by the Associate Director to ensure the efficient functioning of the program.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Minimum of M.A. in relevant concentration or 3+ years of experience in college-preparatory advising and in developing college preparation and advising curriculum.

    + Prior experience working with high school and college students, including low-income and underrepresented populations.

    + Project and process management skills; Experience managing large events from start to finish.

    + Demonstrated experience using a database to manage student information, monitor success, and identify challenges.

    + Evening and weekend availability, in addition to the regular work schedule, and travel to remote programming sites if necessary.
