    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Residential Counselor – Youth I/DD provides therapeutic residential support to youths with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities. The successful candidate will assist with daily living activities and provide behavioral support in a group home setting.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Orients newly admitted clients

    + Plans, leads and supervises client activities

    + Provides positive behavioral supports on a daily basis

    + Provides direct supervision in a group home setting

    + Provides input into assessments, conferences and treatment planning

    + Facilitates community integration through focused recreational activities

    + Provides pre-vocational skills training as indicated based on client needs

    + Collects and records data, and completes all required documentation

    + Provides transportation as needed and accompanies clients to and from appointments

    + Responsible for ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment and adhering to all safety standards, Federal and State regulations, and corporate policies

    EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

    + High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working with I/DD individuals in a group setting, OR

    + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field unrelated to social work/psychology and six (6) months’ experience working with I/DD individuals in a group setting, OR

    + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology or related field

    + Valid unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record

    + Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

    + Ability to demonstrate respect for children/adolescents and their families

    SALARY:

    + $19.57 to $20.83 per hour based on experience and education.
