Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Senior Manager, Sourcing Innovation owns a portfolio of innovation projects to prove out new technologies that can make Walmart’s global value chain more resilient. You’ll deliver results for innovation workstreams within broader strategic initiatives for Sourcing and Walmart Inc. by owning relationships with relevant start-ups to help prove out innovative solutions. Solution portfolios include shelf-life extension, novel ingredients, and alternative materials like next-generation fibers.

You'll be charged with identifying, implementing, and integrating innovations that unlock new sources of supply and deliver regenerative outcomes. You'll construct and deliver results from pilot projects designed to scale and integrate into the business. Ideal candidates will be insatiably curious, creative problem-solvers with a willingness to fail fast and learn.

About Walmart Surety of Supply and Sourcing Innovation:

The Surety of Supply team accelerates and scales Walmart’s efforts to build supply resilience for key categories. We work across all product categories and segments of Walmart Inc. in close collaboration with merchants and Sourcing Managers as well as teams in Private Brands, sustainability, technology, manufacturing, and beyond. We push the envelope by building partnerships with startups and integrate cutting edge solutions into Walmart's Sourcing capabilities.

What you'll do:

+ Own a dynamic and growing portfolio of innovation pilot projects

+ Coordinate cross-functionally with Surety of Supply, Sourcing, Product Development, and Merchandising partners to bring Innovation workstreams to life

+ Deeply understand business challenges and prioritize opportunities for innovation

+ Identify relevant innovators in the market by building relationships with VCs, incubators, academia, and start-ups

+ Benchmark & vet solutions to set strategy from approaching your solution spaces

+ Structure proof of concept projects

+ Manage pilot execution, ensure legal and tech compliance

+ Publicize Walmart’s innovations via internal and external communications

+ Prove out commercial viability to secure enterprise buy-in to scale and/or invest

What you'll bring:

+ An "art of the possible" mindset. You think industries can operate in completely different and more efficient ways in the future.

+ Retail industry knowledge, specifically in sourcing and merchandising.

+ A track record of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.

Desired Experience

+ Bachelor’s degree in related field. MBA and/or experience with VC or startup environments preferred.

+ 5+ years' experience in retail, manufacturing or sourcing industry.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Minimum Qualifications...
