Product Development Coordinator - Kennesaw, GA
NATURE & SCOPE
Product Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development of new formulations, maintenance/improvement of existing formulations, advising on in-process formula modification, and creation of customer and internal samples. Scope includes development of prototypes, yield and manufacturability analysis of currently produced products, raw material evaluation and set up, sample set up and production, as well as provision of technical expertise to internal and external contacts.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Compliance with all safety procedures and SOP’s related to each job task
+ Preparation and proper documentation of samples and analysis
+ Participate in formulation and development of new products by testing powder rheology and providing feedback to to improve formulation when tests are outside established limits.
+ Evaluate products during production to troubleshoot problems as needed, providing recommendations to internal and external contacts
+ Creation and maintenance of technical documents, reports, and databases related to new prototyped products and/or yield improvement efforts
+ Record and sometimes interpret results to present to senior colleagues
+ Use computers and perform mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs
+ Provide secondary assistance to all members of CD&D/Commercial/Operations departments
+ Oversee and participate in departmental formulation and development of new products by testing rheology and sensory attributes. Provide feedback to improve formulation when tests are outside established limits.
+ Remain current with relevant technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability
+ Lead re-formulation and re-development efforts for existing products that present unexpected manufacturability problems or require formulation-based improvements and/or corrections
+ Manage any in-process changes related to raw material replacement and re-evaluation of manufacturability due to these changes
+ Set up sample recipes in ERP system for production
Education
+ Minimum – 1+ year’s experience in product development, sample development, or associated skill sets
+ Preferred - Bachelors degree or higher; prefered in technical, nutritional, pharmaceutical, product management or equivalent.
Experience
+ Minimum – Professional exposure to product development cycle including internal product set up
+ Preferred – 2+ years’ experience in supplement, pharmaceutical, food science, or other product development focused field. Experience concentrated on formulation, prototype and sample development, and new product set-up and launches.
Specific skills
+ Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly learn new tasks/processes and identify areas for improvement
+ Superior multi-tasking, and time management skills
+ High level written and verbal communication capabilities
+ Ability to lift up to ~50lb, multiple times per week
+ Very strong computer skills, including all Microsoft Office programs (spreadsheet management, presentations, document and form/template development, etc.), data tracking / manipulation / presentation, back-end ERP system familiarity
+ Strong leadership and inter-/intra-departmental communication skills
+ Capable of managing and maintaining an independent laboratory workspace
+ Advanced problem solving and reasoning skills; both mathematics and physics-based problem solving

+ Ability to adapt to changing requirements and tasks
+ Willingness to identify areas of need and address them autonomously with minimal input from management
+ Very quick learner who is eager to take on new and challenging responsibilities, often through their own initiatives
+ Highly effective communicator; capable of presenting technical information to a wide variety of audiences
+ Results driven, highly proactive, strong work ethic

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
