Summary:
As a Thermal Design Engineer, you will take a critical role in developing systems for VR, AR, Smart Glasses, Wearables, or New Technology Initiatives. You will be part of a team exploring and developing consumer electronics products over the full lifecycle, from prototypes to mass-production. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration in domains inside and outside thermal engineering. This role intersects many disciples, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.
Required Skills:
Thermal Design Engineer (University Grad) Responsibilities:
1. Develop physics-based thermal models using programming languages such as MatLAB, Python, or Julia.
2. Support the design and development and optimization of part, sub-system, and system level design through collaboration with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software.
3. Develop part and sub-system thermal models using CFD and CAD tools.
4. Develop and optimize thermal designs while integrating new thermal technologies through partnering with mechanical and electrical engineers.
5. Support sub-system and system-level thermal verification through prototype testing.
6. Support the development of thermal control systems while building prototypes to test on physical HW.

7. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelors Degree in a field related to heat transfer, thermal/fluid sciences, or related physics. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
8. Experience in thermal design, modeling / analysis, or related fields.
9. Fundamentals in heat transfer, thermal/fluid sciences, or related physics.
10. Background in modeling using CAD and CFD tools.
11. Experience in empirical testing and model correlation
12. Experience in some programming with a scripting language such as MatLab, Python, or Julia, to support development of models and automation tools.
13. Experience in solving complex problems, embracing ambiguity, and proactively identifying solutions while working with a wider team.
14. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

15. Masters Degree in a field related to heat transfer, thermal/fluid sciences, or related physics.
16. Experience developing analytical, physics-based thermal models.
17. Knowledge and applied applications in statistical analysis to gain insights in the performance of large numbers of devices.
18. Familiar with control theory.
19. Experienced in developing consumer-electronics devices or similar field.
20. Familiar with the latest state-of-the art in thermal materials, such as graphite spreaders, aerogels, thermal interface materials, heatpipes, vapor-chambers, and fans.
21. Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
Public Compensation:
$111,000/year to $131,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
