As Lead Medical Technologist, you are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all test results through the effective direction of testing personnel in the Laboratory Department. You will operate within Flow Cytometry Lab, facilitating an inquisitive, creative and insightful culture in which your team can thrive in their roles. A caregiver in this position works days from 10:00AM - 6:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures (waived, moderately complex or highly complex testing as defined by CLIA) using standard and sophisticated/specialized instrumentation and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
+ Aid in proper reagent and chemical solution preparation, labeling and storage.
+ Evaluate validity of test results using quality control standards, instrumentation function checks and/or department policies and procedures.
+ Evaluate and record test results in a timely and accurate manner.
+ Initiate appropriate corrective action to alleviate any deficiencies of quality assurance standards or established specified limits.
+ Consistently coordinate all work with co-workers to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift.
+ Perform, document and review preventive maintenance measures on department's equipment and instruments.
+ Provide general supervision to Medical Technology Students and others in training or orientation.
+ Compiles various data, statistics and reports.
+ Assist in the validation/verification of new assays under the direction of the Supervisor and the Medical Director, perform validation/verification analysis, and collect, analyze and prepare data for Medical Director review.
+ Write and submit technical procedures to the Supervisor and the Medical Director for review and the Laboratory Director for approval.
+ Train Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians in new testing procedures
+ Assist with implementation of newly developed clinical tests.
+ Serve as a technical resource for the laboratory testing personnel, supervisors and staff.
+ Assist in the interpretation and review of the clinical results.
+ Ensure pending logs and worksheets are performed in a timely manner.
+ Perform and oversee troubleshooting and repair of assigned laboratory instruments/equipment/procedures and technology and report issues as needed.
+ Ensure the procedure manuals are up to date and annual reviews of procedure manuals are conducted.
+ Assist in receiving and distributing Proficiency Testing samples, submitting results to CAP by the set due date and reviewing results and troubleshooting failures.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Doctorate, Master's, Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution
+ Current Florida licensure at the technologist levels
+ One or more of Microbiology, Immunohematology or other licenses
+ Two years of laboratory experience
+ Working knowledge and understanding of computer functions
+ Demonstrated knowledge and theory of applicable Clinical Laboratory Medicine
+ Flow Cytometry experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
