    Orthopedic Technician – New Ortho Office – Latham, NY - FT

    What you will do:

    Under the supervision of the physician and Registered Nurse, provides direct care and performs selected functions for orthopedic patients of all ages in accordance with established policies and procedures. Perform accurate assessments and application of casts, splints, and other orthopedic devices, ensuring proper alignment and fit to support patient recovery and rehabilitation

    Responsibilities:

    The Orthopedic Technician’s tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

    + Welcome and escort patients to examination rooms, ensuring their comfort and readiness for the physician.

    + Conduct interviews with patients to gather their medical history, measure vital signs, height, and weight.

    + Collect and organize relevant reports and radiological results to prepare accurate patient charts.

    + Provide assistance during treatments, including the removal of sutures and staples, preparation of injections, instruments, and materials.

    + Administer medications as directed by the physician and offer clear explanations of treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians’ instructions to patients.

    + Facilitate medication refills through e-prescription systems and communicate prescription details to pharmacies under authorized directives.

    + Prepare examination rooms for patient visits, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.

    + Sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies to maintain hygienic standards.

    + Educate patients on the use of durable medical equipment (DME) as needed.

    + Perform various clerical duties, including scheduling appointments, participating in phone triage, faxing prior authorizations and referrals, and managing electronic health records (EHR) efficiently.

    . **What you will need:**

     

    Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

     

    Experience: 1+ year(s) experience as an Orthopedic Technician or a comparable role is preferred.

     

    Certification: Certification as an Orthopedic Technologist (OTC) or completion of a recognized certification program is required. Must obtain OTC within 2 years of working.

     

    **Pay Range** : $21.20 - $30.44

     

    Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.”
