From business intelligence and solutions for critical transportation infrastructure to planning and operating a safe, efficient, and reliable multimodal transportation system, the team connects people and markets across Minnesota.
MNIT is seeking an Executive Assistant and Special Projects Coordinator to support the MNIT DOT Chief Business Technology Officer (CBTO). In this dynamic role, you will provide high-level administrative support, lead special projects, and contribute to operational analysis and problem-solving efforts that drive the efficiency and effectiveness of MNIT. This position blends executive assistance, business analysis, and project coordination to support strategic IT initiatives aligned with both MNIT and MnDOT objectives.
You will play a key role in streamlining office operations, facilitating continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring effective communication across technical and non-technical teams. A strong foundation in information technology is essential, as you’ll be working closely with technical teams on processes related to IT services, billing, and performance metrics. Clear, concise communication in plain language is also critical to produce accessible documentation and foster collaboration across a range of stakeholders.
This position requires an employee to be onsite in St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Strong command of Business English with the ability to write, edit, and present clear, error-free content tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Advanced customer service skills across multiple channels, with a proven ability to manage priorities, solve problems, and foster effective cross-functional relationships.
+ Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify trends, resolve issues, and support data-informed decision-making.
+ Experience supporting projects using Agile principles and improving workflows through Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data analysis, reporting, and creating visualizations; familiarity with IT systems and metrics.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Knowledge of government budgeting practices, including forecasting, reconciliation, and experience with MNIT-specific systems such as SWIFT and SEMA4.
+ Professional certifications such as ITIL, Agile, PMP, and/or Lean Six Sigma.
+ Experience working in state government or public sector environments, with an understanding of applicable regulatory and operational standards.
+ Familiarity with MNIT Services branding standards and formatting guidelines for official communications.
+ Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
+ Strong time management, customer, and organizational skills, with experience balancing multiple priorities in complex, fast-paced environments.
+ Experience supporting IT resource, asset, and contract management, with proficiency in tools such as SQL, Power BI, or similar platforms to support data-driven decision-making and change management.
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to work in a seated or standing position for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to position self and move sufficiently to open mail, sort and file documents, and perform repetitive tasks.
+ Ability to move and position up to thirty (30) pounds.
