The Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (BMP) protects the public's health and safety by assuring that the people who practice medicine or as an allied health professional are competent, ethical practitioners with the necessary knowledge and skills appropriate to their title and role. The Board regulates over 40,000 health care providers and annually issues over 3,500 new credentials and investigates over 1,100 complaints. The BMP enforces statutes and rules for the regulation of people who practice medicine or as an allied health professional including acupuncturists, athletic trainers, genetic counselors, naturopathic doctors, physical assistants, respiratory therapists, and traditional midwives. The BMP has oversight and jurisdiction for licensed healthcare providers under Minnesota Statutes Chapters 13, 147, 147(A-F), 148.7801-7815, and 214.
The Senior Case Manager researches and investigates alleged violations of the Minnesota Medical Practice Act and other regulated healthcare practice acts specified in the statutes. This position serves as a lead investigator providing leadership for the Complaint Review Unit. This includes mentoring and training staff investigators, reviewing and editing written case summaries, and monitoring caseloads across the team. The person in this position also manages the recruitment of contracting and retention of professional healthcare consultants, supports the Complaint Review Committees, manages compliance of corrective and disciplinary actions, and assists with contested case hearing preparations. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert for inquiries and complaints from the public, health facilities and regulated individuals regarding application of the Medical Practice Act and other practice acts enforced by the Board, and relevant rules and regulations. Performs other related work.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement after orientation and training are completed. With a telework agreement, onsite attendance will be required for team members or as requested by management to meet business needs. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Minimum Qualifications

+ Three years of experience performing investigations, licensing compliance, complaint review, administration/quality assurance of licenses, legal analysis, or closely related experience in the licensing or regulatory field.
+ Experience working efficiently and effectively in a high volume, deadline driven environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to serve as a lead worker assigning and reviewing work, providing training and constructive feedback, and serving as a technical resource.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas persuasively and establish trusted professional working relationships.
+ Analytical skills to identify and address licensing and regulatory issues effectively and inclusively.
+ Experience coordinating and facilitating regular meetings for decision making bodies.
+ Ability to successfully interact with diverse audiences including under stressful and time sensitive situations.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor's or higher degree in health services administration, hospital administration, public health, criminal justice, pre-med, pre-law, or a related field.
+ Experience leading projects and teams.
+ Knowledge of the laws and processes governing the licensing and regulation of health care professionals.
+ Ability to master the understanding of and apply relevant statutory and regulatory requirements for regulatory and disciplinary/corrective actions related to violations of minimum licensure and professional practice requirements.
+ Ability to quickly gain knowledge of agency specific technology, processes and relationships with several external partners.
+ Ability to work independently and in groups.
