HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
The Thermal Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of thermal management solutions for mechanical and electromechanical systems. This role involves conducting thermal simulations, evaluating heat transfer mechanisms, and developing innovative cooling strategies to ensure product performance and reliability. The Thermal Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing, to integrate thermal solutions into new and existing products. Additionally, this role involves direct interaction with customers to understand their technical requirements and provide support for thermal-related challenges. This position requires strong analytical skills, hands-on testing experience, and a deep understanding of thermal management principles.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
• Design and develop thermal management solutions, including conduction, convection, and liquid cooling strategies.
• Perform thermal simulations and analyses using tools such as CFD and FEA to evaluate heat transfer performance.
• Develop and refine mathematical models to predict thermal behavior in various operating conditions.
• Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate thermal solutions into product designs.
• Conduct hands-on testing and validation of prototypes to verify thermal performance and reliability.
• Analyze test data and provide recommendations for design modifications to improve thermal efficiency.
• Evaluate materials and cooling technologies to optimize thermal performance while considering cost and manufacturability.
• Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of thermal issues in development and production.
• Document thermal design processes, test results, and engineering changes to maintain technical records.
• Interact directly with customers to understand application requirements, provide technical guidance, and support product integration.
• Collaborate with sales and applications teams to develop thermal solutions tailored to customer needs.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging thermal technologies, and best practices in heat transfer and thermal management.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5-10 years of experience in thermal engineering, heat transfer, or related disciplines.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, including conduction, convection, and radiation.
• Experience with thermal simulation tools such as ANSYS, Fluent, Icepak, or similar software.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent) for designing and analyzing thermal components.
• Hands-on experience with thermal testing, instrumentation, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with cooling technologies such as heat sinks, heat pipes, liquid cooling, and phase-change materials.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply engineering fundamentals to complex thermal challenges.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement thermal solutions.
• Experience interfacing with customers to define requirements and provide technical support.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills to convey technical concepts and findings.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to thermal management is a plus.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS • A typical day requires continuous sitting and/or standing in an office setting with occasional breaks. Standing and walking around 100k sq. ft. facility extensively throughout the day. • Able to comfortably lift 35 pounds without injury. • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. • Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. • Occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. • Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
• Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 100 pounds in all directions. • Constantly communicating with others to exchange information. • Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. • Occasionally operating machinery and/or power tools. • Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned. • Occasionally subjected to low temperatures and high temperatures • Occasional sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
