Job Description
Program Management:
o Oversee controls engineering deliverables across assigned vehicle or manufacturing programs from launch to production.
o Develop and maintain timing plans to ensure controls milestones align with broader program schedules.
o Coordinate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, process, quality, product engineering) to ensure controls integration supports program goals.
Vendor Management:
o Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams and automation vendors, integrators, or controls suppliers.
o Define and communicate technical requirements and expectations to vendors upfront (hardware standards, software templates, network architecture, safety protocols).
o Review vendor designs (electrical, software logic, safety systems) to ensure they meet internal specifications before approval.
o Conduct regular technical reviews and audits with vendors to monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and manage changes.
Strategy and Specification Compliance:
o Ensure all vendor controls strategies (PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics) comply with the companys corporate and plant-level specifications.
o Validate that controls systems are developed using approved programming standards (e.g., software structure, naming conventions, error handling, diagnostics).
o Lead or support Buyoff activities to verify compliance before installation and handover.
o Support development and updates of corporate standards based on lessons learned from new programs.
Issue Resolution and Launch Support:
o Provide on-site support during installation, commissioning, and launch phases to quickly resolve controls-related issues.
o Lead root-cause analysis for electrical, software, and communication failures, driving permanent corrective actions.
o Maintain clear documentation of controls changes, deviations, and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement:
o Proactively identify areas for optimization (cycle time, reliability, maintenance) within controls strategies.
o Capture lessons learned from program launches to improve future specifications and vendor instructions.
Compensation:
$45/hr to $50/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements
Experience working as a Controls Engineer.
Direct program experience with assembly and machining controls architectures (hardware/software).
Previous launch support experience: on-site support during installation, commissioning etc.
Experience in Project Management or Lead Engineer role managing relationships with vendors.
Knowledge of programming principals on Allen Bradley PLCs and CNC/Motion controls systems.
Kawasaki Robot experience, troubleshooting and programming.
Hands-on knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLC, CNC, robot, vision and other automation issues.
Knowledge of cell machining systems and integration of CNC controls, gantries and auxiliary equipment an asset.
Knowledge of assembly and machining RFID systems including complexity management, and QOS strategies. null
